My Top Ten Favorite Movies of 2011

Confession. This year I haven't seen a lot of movies. In fact there are quite a few that came out this year that I have been dying to see, but haven't seen. I blame Netflix. I just never go to the movies anymore. Expensive and crowded.

Haven't seen

1. Crazy Stupid Love (REALLY NEED TO SEE THIS!)
2. Sherlock Holmes Dos
3. MI4 (Heard it's killer.)
4. Moneyball
5. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Read the book, really want to see the movie.)

Because I haven't seen all I want to, I am only going to list my top 5 of the year until I see the others.

So I am ranking them this year as..

1. The Help
The acting, the story, the casting. Awemazing. Loved the book, but I might have loved the movie more. Great movie.
2. Bridesmaids
Crass? Yes. Inappropriate? Yes. Funny as heck? YES. Melissa McCarthy could be one of my favorite actresses.
3. Super 8
Loved feeling like a kid again. I rarely don't like J.J. Abrams though.
4. Water for Elephants.
The scenery and how it was filmed alone. Gorgeous.
5. Limitless and Horrible Bosses tie.
Both really entertaining.

Now if we are listing the worst films of 2011, sadly I have seen quite a few of them. Ranking very high on the list include..

Red Riding Hood and Sucker Punch. Not sure why I saw those. And let's be honest. Source Code was laughable.

Summer Movie Rundown

I have seen a fair amount of movies this summer. The following is my rankings, from best to worst, of the movies I have seen.

X-Men: First Class- I did not expect to like this movie as much as I did. As a fan of the world of the X-Men I was not expecting much after the third X-Men and the awfulness of the Wolverine origins movie. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I think the cast does a great job of introducing us to characters that we already know and love.

Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2- I liked this movie a lot, it seemed like a fitting end to the movies series but at the same time I am sad to see it end. I think the feeling of loss kept this movie from the number 1 spot. The best part of this movie is seeing how much the kids have grown since the first one 10 years ago. Plus this is easily the most action packed of the HP movies and one of the best.

Super8- This movie is old school and I mean that in the best way. It is all about story and that story just happens to be a monster movie caught on film by a group of young kids. It is like ET meets Cloverfield. I have yet to talk to any one that didn't enjoy this movie.

Captain America- Another movie that reminds me older movies and again I mean that in a good way. This movie seemed like a mash up of The Rocketeer and The Incredibles with a much scarier villain. After X-Men this is my favorite comic book inspired movie of the summer. It took a little bit to get going but there was enough humor and interesting characters to keep you interested until things really picked up. Make sure you stay till the end of the credits to see a sneak peek of next years Avengers.

Horrible Bosses- This movie was a good laugher, I think I was laughing through most of the movie. Just know that if rated R movies aren't for you then neither is this movie as it is very rated R in its humor.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides- This movie felt more like the first Pirates and that is a good thing. We are back to focusing on Captain Jack and his adventures and while I am sad that there was no Elizabeth Swan it is nice to meet some new Pirates to keep things fresh. Plus it is fun to spot the shots where they are hiding Penelope Cruz's baby bump through out the movie.

Cars 2- While this movie didn't have the heart of the first one it was a pretty well done James Bond type spy caper that just happens to be told from the point of view of Cars. Had this not been a Cars movie I am sure more people would have liked it. The reviews on this one were more mean then I would have thought over all I thought it was entertaining enough maybe a little to violent for the youngest crowd but still the trailers told you that much.

Bridesmaids- This movie was funny, crud and disturbing but funny. It is nice to see an all female cast headline a movie and really you can relate to certain aspects of each character here. Plus it is funny, did I mention that? I only wish the Hangover 2 had been as good as this movie.

Thor- If taken as a popcorn movie it is just fine, not great but not horrible. Since Thor is one of the Avengers I look at this more as an origin movie and it that regards it is much better then Wolverine.

Friends With Benefits- You know exactly where this movie is going and that is okay. You are most likely seeing this movie because of the cast and they all do a great job surprisingly. Plus there was more heart here then I was expecting predictable out come notwithstanding. This movie doesn't take itself to seriously and that is nice, it reminded me of a grown up Easy A.

Kung Fu Panda 2- Pretty disappointed by this one, it wasn't bad but it wasn't all that interesting either.

Larry Crowne- If this movie would have been on TV and I just stumbled across it then I am sure I would have liked it a lot better or perhaps if it had come out in the fall when there wasn't much else to see. But in the summer there is just nothing that makes it stand out. Everything about it is just ho-hum. You can wait to rent this one.

The Hangover Pt. 2- Sure I laughed in parts but for the most part this is the exact same movie as the first one. The only difference is that instead of Las Vegas it is set in Thailand and....nope that's about the only difference. Just watch the first one with the a/c turned off and it will be just like watching the second on.

Well I think that is most of the movies I have seen this Summer. Did I miss any that you thought were great? Or maybe some that were not great that I don't need to bother seeing, like Green Lantern perhaps? Sound off in the comments section.

2011 Movies

Well 2011 seems to be off to a rough start, so far this year I haven't seen any movies that have just left me saying 'Wow! I need to go see that again'. No, instead I have seen a bunch of movies that I can't even recall a few days later because they were just so unimpressive. In the last few weeks I have seen Source Code, Sucker Punch and Limitless and while Limitless was far and away the best movie of the three, they all left me wanting more. I just want a good movie that has a good plot and good acting and at the end I feel like it was worth the $9 bucks I just forked over in hopes of being entertained. I have hope for the summer movie crop but at the moment it seems like the best movie I have seen this year was The Adjustment Bureau and lets be honest that movie was made a few years back so does it really even count as a 2011 movie? Am I wrong is there a movie you've seen this year that just blew you away?

Ranking the Best Picture Nominees

Well it is that time of year again when we find out what movie is deemed the Best Picture of the year. This year I saw all 10 movies and for the life of me I can't see why some of them were nominated but to each their own I suppose. Below I present my own personal rankings of this years 10 Best Picture Nominees.

Toy Story 3- I know there is absolutely ZERO chance of this movie winning the prize but it really should, at least in my humble opinion. I found it to be the most overall entertaining movie of this years nominees. It had something for everyone and considering that it is a sequel to a sequel that is pretty impressive. To bad animated movies aren't taken seriously.
The Kings Speech- This is the movie I fully expect to take home the big prize tonight and I am okay with that. The acting in the movie is stellar. I must admit that I have a small fascination with all things British so I am sure that helped me like this movie all the more. If I were voting member of the academy I would be marking my vote for each of the actors nominated from this movie. They all did a great job.
Inception-Like Toy Story 3 there is no chance of this movie winning which is to bad because it is easily one of the most clever if not the most clever of the movies nominated this year. It is not only visually stunning to look at but it is also a head scratcher. How many levels are we down again? You will keep coming back to this movie again and again just to try and figure it out. One day big blockbuster movies will get their due and it is movies like Inception that prove why.
127 Hours- I just got back from Canyonlands National Park and I can only imagine what it would be like to be trapped all alone for so long in a helpless situation like the one depicted here. This movie makes you feel like you are there in the canyon hoping for the outcome that most people already knew was coming since this was based on real events. That fact that you are still on the edge of your seat says something about this movie. James Franco is fantastic and any other year I think he would be a lock for Best Actor but sadly Collin Firth was just a little more fantastic this year. Maybe we can hope for a tie?
The Fighter- Another movie full of great acting (are you seeing a trend yet?) and based on real events. I was a little underwhelmed by this movie perhaps because I had heard so many good things about it and perhaps it was because it was one of the last movies I saw. While the acting was great I just couldn't get into this one, still a fine movie but one that I would be more likely to watch on cable then run out to see.
The Social Network- Another movie that may have suffered from over hype. I guess the writing was okay and I am sure it will win in that category but overall I was just kind of bored for parts of the movie. I guess I can't relate to a tech smart kid who is worth billions.
True Grit- Another well acted movie and yet another movie that I was just bored during. It seemed to me that there were long stretches during this movie where nothing was happening and then it just kind of ended. For a movie that felt as long as this one I was expecting more in the end. Plus for the life of me I don't know why Hailee Steinfeld is nominated in the Supporting Actress category, she carried this movie and should be nominated for Best Actress.
Winters Bone- A depressing movie overall but one that is made bearable by its lead actress, Jennifer Lawrence, who does a great job here and would get my vote for Best Actress. Overall I left this movie feeling just blah mostly because I am sure things like this happen all the time, sadly.
The Kids Are All Right- I wanted this movie to be so much better then it was. It was entertaining in parts but for all the talk of how original its story was it didn't seem all that original. Parents fighting, kids rebelling, life moving on, etc; haven't we seen this before? While I do agree that Annette Bening did a great job (and she is in fact my pick for who is going to win) I just don't feel like this movie is one of the best of the year.
Black Swan- I am so not the target audience for this movie. I don't care for ballet and no amount of girl-on-girl action is going to change that. Plus I feel like the movie told you very early on how it was all going to end. At least give me a little bit of suspense to keep me awake. Sure Natalie Portman does well at making you feel like she is crazy but it almost seems like a less fun/crazy/big city version of her character in Where the Heart Is. That is to say soft spoken and unsure of herself until the end of the movie. Ground breaking? Hardly. Plus one good actor does not a great movie make.

2 The Fighter (Loved this film. Amazing acting. Christian Bale was genius. And the fighting was so realistic.

My Top Ten Movies of 2010

Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been! Just as HE has done, here are my picks from 2010. Unlike Eric, I didn't have any trouble finding movies to list. In fact I had a hard time narrowing it down. Without further adieu, my list..

1. Inception (LOVED IT, really unique, and had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.)
2. 127 Hours (I am putting this as number 2 because WOW. The acting, the intensity, everything. I really hope James Franco gets the Academy.)

3. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (This movie had me laughing out loud. Loved how different it was, loved the soundtrack, loved the filming, loved it. So much in fact I saw it twice in the theatres and that's saying a lot.)

4. Easy A (Emma Stone is one of my new favorite comedians, and I will forever laugh when I hear "Pocket Full of Sunshine")

5. The A Team (I think this is lower on my list because I saw it at the drive-in and was really tired.)

6. Red (I was surprised how much I liked this movie.)

7. How to Train Your Dragon (I enjoyed this movie just a tad more than Toy Story 3, just because it was different and had a lot of heart.)

8. Toy Story 3 (Yes, I was one of those people that cried. Really touching, and a great way to end the series.)

9. The Other Guys (This movie had me cracking up the whole time. But I do tend to like Will Ferrell more than others.)

10. Alice in Wonderland (Beautiful filming, and the Queen of Hearts stole the show for me.)

Honorable mention goes to Catfish for how it haunted me, Knight and Day for surprising me how much I didn't hate Tom Cruise in it, and Date Night for the laughs and funny lines. And believe it or not I liked Devil. I thought it was good for a popcorn muncher. But unlike Eric, I am a fan of M. Knight.

I saw Black Swan, and though I liked it okay, and yes Natalie Portman was really good at acting all crazy, I just don't get all the hype. Though, it was pretty built up for me before I saw it, so it could be that.

(I should say I still haven't seen True Grit, The Fighter, or Blue Valentine. All on my list of one's I need to see.)

Eric's Top 10 Movies of 2010

Wow! I have totally been slacking on posts here. Sorry, I was busy seeing movies and before I could come and post about the one I saw I saw another and another and well you get the point. The sad thing is that as I looked back at the movies I saw this year not that many great ones jumped out at me. Usually I have an easy time picking my Top Ten movies of the year, this year I had a hard time picking five. But fear not I finally got my list to Ten. Wanna know what movies made the list? Well keep reading.

(TIE) The A-Team & Toy Story 3- I keep going back and forth over which of these movies I liked better. In the end I decided to call it a tie.
The A-Team was just what movies should be. Big, loud, funny, action packed and highly enjoyable. Sure there was some kind of plot that makes the explosions make sense but really who needs a plot when you are having a blast? I don't I just ask that my movie choices entertain me and The A-Team did just that from start to finish. Toy Story 3 was also highly entertaining especially when you take into consideration that this is not only a sequel but a sequel to a sequel at that. The story is one that everyone can relate to and the movie pulls at everyone of your heartstrings. The last scene with Andy and his toys was enough to make me cry. I admit it. And if you didn't cry you might want to replace your batteries because you are not human.
TIE (see above)
Inception- This movie was a mind trick and I mean that in the best way possible. It was utterly original and just like a puzzle that you can't figure out you will keep coming back to it until you do, or until you think you have it figured out at least. The cast was a little mismatched for me but the story is what we are here for and that is where Inception really shines. Plus the special effects are hard to beat. But what I really like about this movie was the way it ended. If you haven't seen it I won't spoil anything but just say that it can go either way I wouldn't mind.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1- Long title but this was my favorite of the books and the movie doesn't disappoint. Sure it is much darker then the other movies but in order to be true to the books it would have to be. It is amazing to see how far the young cast has come since the first movie. They carry this movie and really it is all the better for it.
The Kings Speech- This may be one of the best acted movies this year. The cast is fantastic and the story isn't bad either. Based on the true story of the rise of King George VI and his speech impediment and how his wife found an Australian speech therapist to help him overcome it. It should be noted that I find movies based on history very interesting, so that my explain why I liked this movie so much. If I had my way each of the main actors here would be taking home Oscars this year.
The Town- Ben Affleck it turns out is quite the director. This could have been just your typical heist movie. Instead it is a character study of people with complicated issues to say the least. Sure the movie has a ton of bad language but sadly so does real life and even though the story is focused on bank robbers you still can't pull yourself away.
Red- Much like The A-Team this movie was just fun, mindless, popcorn entertainment. The cast looks like they had a blast making the movie and that joy translates throughout the movie.
127 Hours-James Franco is great in this movie and even if you know the outcome (it is based on real events) you are still held at the edge of your seat for the whole movie. I am happy to say that I keep my eyes open the whole time, although I did cringe a few times when the arm scene came to a conclusion. This is a story of human triumph and the will to live.
It's Kind of a Funny Story- If you blinked you most likely missed this movie which is too bad because it was touching and full of heart and humor that you wouldn't expect for it's subject matter. Feeling the weight of the world a young teen checks into a mental institution and there learns more about life then he could have every imagined. The great cast really takes this movie to the next level.
Alice in Wonderland- After repeated viewing this movie continues to grow on me. And therefore earns a spot on my list. While this is your typical Tim Burton movie it seems grounded more by the original story of Alice in Wonderland. Plus it reminds me of the creepy made for TV movie that terrified me as a kid. I love it when movies bring up obscure memories from childhood.

Well there you have it. My favorite movies of 2010. What movies made your list? Any movies that surprised you with how good, or bad, they were. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by Tangled and a little disappointed by True Grit. I should also note the I didn't see The Social Network and it seems like that movie is on a bunch of Top Ten lists this year.

Tangled

My family has a tradition of going to a movie on Thanksgiving and really this is one of the traditions I rather enjoy. This year we went and saw Tangled, the 50th animated movie from Walt Disney. After seeing the previews I wasn't sure what to expect as it seemed to be more in line with movies like Shrek rather then typical Disney movies like Aladdin, The Lion King and so on. Well I can now inform you that I was pleasantly surprised by Tangled and can report back that the previews in no way do justice to this movie. It is very much a typical Disney movie and that is a good thing. Tangled is the story of Rapunzel which is familiar to most. In the vein of previous Disney movies there is something for everyone here, young and old alike. What I wasn't expecting was the musical numbers that used to be the staple of Disney animated movies. The way they work them into the story is perfect and makes you wonder why people don't break into songs more often in the real world, I mean it would make things much more interesting don't you think? There was also a surprising amount of humor in this movie. If you are a fan of movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules or really any of the great Disney movies from the 90's you will most likely enjoy Tangled. I know I did.

New Fall TV Shows

I have a confession. I am not feeling this new crop of TV shows. I just haven't been caught by anything this year nor do I find myself rushing to watch the new shows that I have recorded. Of the few that I have watched here are my ramblings.

Hawaii Five-O- This is probably the best new show I have watched this year and is most likely the one I will keep watching.
Raising Hope- I laughed a few times and I always love the idea of a dysfunctional family pulling together to help each other. I will give it a few more airings to grow on me.
Running Wilde- I wanted to like this if only because I have a small crush on Kerri Russell. Sadly I didn't find this show funny or even entertaining. I will give it one more episode but I fear it will be the first show cut from the Tivo Season Pass list.
My Generation-I liked the way this show is edited and the story of catching up with a group of high school students 10 years later is intriguing enough. I just fear that there are no likable characters to keep me coming back.
Mike & Molly- It has it moments and the characters are appealing enough and while it has heart I fear the fat jokes will run out or just turn cruel. I will give a few more airings to decide.
Better With You-The worst thing I can say about this show is that I don't really remember most of it. I don't think I could even name one of the characters. That doesn't bode well.

Like I said I haven't watched too many new shows yet. I still have Undercovers, Blue Bloods and No Ordinary Family to watch but other then that I haven't even recorded any of the other new shows. What say you. Is there any shows out there that you think I should give a chance? Sound off.

USA Network Summer Shows

It seems this summer I have been hooked by the shows on USA Network. It started last year with Royal Pains which is a fun mix of comedy, drama, strange medical issues, family issues etc. It sounds strange but really it is just a fun way to spend the summer with out resorting to re-runs and reality fare. I will be the first to admit that the first few episodes of Royal Pains second season left me longing for the first season but after a weak start the show is back to its season one ways and just as much fun as ever. Royal Pains airs Thursday nights.

The next show on USA that caught my interest was White Collar. I had intended to watch this show when it premiered last fall but just never got around to it. Lucky for me USA aired a marathon before the second season started so I was able to catch up and I am glad I did. White Collar is easily my favorite show of the summer. It follow a renowned art thief who is caught by the FBI, twice, and given the choice of going back to jail or working with the White Collar crimes division. This show reminds me of those old detective shows but with the added twist of the criminal working to help the bad guys. This show is well written and gives you just enough of a recurring storyline to keep you coming back while at the same time solving each weeks crime without dragging it out. Do yourself a favor and check out White Collar Tuesdays on USA.

The last show that has hooked me on USA this summer is Covert Affairs. It is a cross between Alias and the Bourne movies. Covert Affairs follows a new CIA agent who is thrown into the spy game fresh from the training farm. Just like Alias we get to travel the world via the spy service but unlike Alias there are no sci-fi elements to keep you scratching your head. This is just like a weekly Bourne movie but with a continuing storyline of a lost love who is the reason young Annie is thrown into the spy world with such little training. Not a bad way to wrap up Tuesdays after watching White Collar.

Summer Movie Picks

Is it just me or has this summers crop of movies left you wanting more? But that hasn't stopped me from going to the movies! Here are my quick picks for Summer Movies you should see (or skip)...so far anyway.

Toy Story 3: Another Pixar hit, I mean really these people don't know how to make a bad movie. And yes like every other Pixar movie I cried.
The A-Team: I don't know if it is because I went into this movie with low expectations or that all the other movies I had seen previously just weren't that good, but I loved The A-Team. I was laughing the whole time. The perfect Summer movie.
Knight & Day: Not a bad movie really; it has it moments of fun, action, suspense. Worth a see if only to get out of the heat for a few hours.
Prince Of Persia-The Sands of Time: Another movie that I went into with low expectations (It was based on a video game after all!) People either liked this one or they didn't. I liked it. Sure the plot was far fetched (see video game) but it was still an enjoyable escape.
Shrek Forever After: Better then Shrek 3 but not much else here to talk about. The only standout was Puss in Boots.
Robin Hood: A lot better then I was expecting, plus it was nice to have a movie that wasn't defined and driven by special effects but rather a plot.
Iron Man 2: This movie was fine but it just wasn't as good as the first Iron Man. Sometimes you can have too many, long fight scenes. The characters are still fun and I liked Micky Rourke and Scarlett Johansson much better in this then I thought I was going to.

Lie To Me

So on a whim, my husband and I decided to watch a rerun of Lie to Me. It's quickly become our guilty pleasure. Tim Roth makes the show. Sure the side characters are somewhat lovable. And I think Kelli Williams holds her own. But Tim Roth is definitely the big part of what makes this show so great.

Sure the plots can be a little cheesy. Sure it's not super realistic. But it's addicting, and fun. I have never been a fan of CSI, but I get the feeling this would be similar. They are solving crimes, but by interpreting micro expressions, through the Facial Action Coding System, and body language.

Check it out if you get a chance. My husband and I have decided it's the perfect Saturday afternoon show when nothing else is on, and you just want to relax and veg out. If you have a DVR, they are replaying the first season on FX I believe. Otherwise, tune in on Fox.

It's been awhile since I have reviewed any movies and I don't want you to think that is because I haven't been out seeing movies. I do it for you really! So, without further ado here is a quick rundown of the last 5 movies I have seen.

Alice in Wonderland- I saw this on in 3D and 2D and have to say I liked it much better in good ol' 2D. The colors seemed more vivid and the movie just seemed more real. As for the movie; I found it quite enjoyable. The story is a fresh take on the story that most of us know from the books or the animated movie. There are some fighting sequences that may be a little scary for the under 6 crowd but otherwise this one is a crowd pleaser.
Clash of the Titans- After learning that this was was converted to 3D at the last minute, and because of enjoying Alice better in the second dimension, I saw this one in 2D. This is best described as an adult Percy Jackson prequel of sorts. I say that because I had just read the 1st Percy Jackson book (and seen the movie) and haven't seen the original Clash of the Titans. This movie was okay, nothing great with okay special effects. Worth a rental or dollar movie viewing if you have to see it on the big screen.
She's Out of my League- I enjoyed this movie; sure it is crude and predictable but it has a new, relatively unknown cast that do a good job with the material they have been given. I should add a side note that me and my movie companion were the only ones laughing in the theater for the first half of the movie and this might have added to my overall enjoyment of the movie. It was almost like it was an inside joke that only we got.
Kick-Ass- This one turned out to be more of a violent action movie then I was expecting and the fact that it has teens and a pre-teen doing, and receiving, most of the violence it is defiantly not for everyone. I liked the movie because it was different from most of the comic book/superhero movies that have come out but if you are turned of by large amounts of violence and language this movie isn't for you.
Death at a Funeral- Another remake, this one of a British movie by the same name. Full of laughs and more enjoyable then I was expecting it to be. James Marsden steals this movie and really is the best reason to go see it. I would tell you more but that would ruin the fun. This one does have some low brow humor but overall a good laugh. It made me want to go out and watch the original just to see how close they are in nature.

Spurred by Eric's post. I thought I would share my t.v. addiction with you too. Like Eric said, without the power of Tivo, none of this would be possible. Especially since I watch most of my t.v. on Sundays, so I have a bunch of shows stored up for me..

Weekly:

Ellen DeGeneres Show. This is my favorite day time talk show, and the only one I actually have set on my Tivo. Sorry Oprah.

Friday:

I'm at a loss. What do people watch on this day?? Somewhere in here my Tivo records my throw away shows that I watch as background noise while I am doing other projects, like Jessica Simpson's Price of Beauty, and Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood. Yes, feel free to judge, I realize it's weird.

I said I was an entertainment junkie and here is your proof. The following is a rundown of my weekly TV schedule. Thanks to the magic of Tivo I don't (and couldn't without Mr. Tivo) watch these all during their original air times, but I have listed them by when they air. Please no comments on how I need to get a life, I am already aware of this fact.

Monday

How I Met Your Mother-If you have watched since the first season you know why this show is great.
The Big Bang Theory-This is perhaps the most consistently funny show on TV
Chuck-It fills the void left by Alias but with a much lighter touch.
Castle-The cast makes this show and each storyline is tied up nicely by the end of each episode.

Tuesday

NCIS-I have been hooked this show since finding it in it's second season. There is a reason this is the #1 show on TV
NCIS:Los Angeles-Not as good as the original but it has promise
Lost-Best show on TV. Period. I am both excited and sad for this final season to end in May.
V-Oh, how I wanted you to be better. I am not giving up yet but this show needs to pick up soon.
Parenthood-I like parts of this show more then the show as a whole. Still undecided on whether or not to continue watching.
The Good Wife-Best new drama series of the year. Once you start watching you will be hooked.
Glee-Moving to Tuesdays next week (like I needed more shows to watch this night) Glee is just fun to watch. Plus it's songs will be stuck in your head for weeks on end.
Southland-TNT picked up this show from NBC. It deals with some dark and gritty material but is still a great cop drama that is probably closer to real life then anything else currently on.

Wednesday

The Middle-I have only seen one episode but it was funny and earned this show a spot on my season pass list.
The New Adventures of Old Christine-Another show that I was late to. This show is always good for a decent laugh or two.
Modern Family-Best new comedy of the year. I dare you not to laugh out loud once each episode.
Cougar Town-I wasn't sure if I was going to like this show at first, but it has gotten better with each episode.
Ugly Betty-Only a few weeks left until this show signs off and while this season has been better then previous seasons I am ready to say goodbye.

Thursday

Survivor-The granddaddy of reality shows. I was late to this one but must say that I am enjoying it.
FlashForward-I like this show but I just don't feel the need to watch it right away and there is backlog of episodes on my Tivo to prove it. Like V this show needs to pick up the pace.
Grey's Anatomy-I think I am watching this one more out of habit then actual entertainment. I like enough of the cast to keep coming back...for now at least.
CSI-This year I was able to finally quit the awfulness that is CSI Miami. CSI proves that crime scene dramas can still be good even 9 years in without resulting to murder in space. (That is when I said enough CSI Miami!)
Private Practice-Better then Grey's but that's not saying much. This show can get a little heavy handed at times.

Sunday

The Amazing Race-Best reality show ever!
Desperate Housewives-Still surprisingly fun in it's 6th season.
Brothers & Sisters- I love the cast of this show but they need to stop recycling the same old story lines season after season.
Life- As a huge fan of Planet Earth I was very excited for Life to start. And now I can say that I haven't been disappointed yet. HD TV's where made for these types of shows.

Lost

Lost. Yeah this show is totally living up to its name. When the season started I figured we might see what happened if flight 815 never crashed on the island which was Jacks plan. Or I figured we would see what would happen if Jacks plan didn't work. I never thought we would see both. At first I was hesitant of this, I mean this is the final season after all. How will they, or will they, tie these two story lines together? Some of the larger themes of Lost are Fate vs. Destiny, Faith vs. Science, Good vs Evil. This season it seems like those themes are all out in full force and just like in season 1 it seems I have no idea what is going on and who is good or bad. Is Jacob really the good guy here (I still think he is but am having some doubts as of late. See faith!) and is the Man in Black aka Smoky really bad?(Destiny??) I still think he is because so far the only person to live after an encounter with the Smoke Monster was Locke. The same Locke that the Smoke Monster is now calling home. Coincidence? (or Fate?) I think not.

Tonight's episode brought back a lot of season 1 greatness for me. The two bodies in the cave, Jack discussing his daddy issues and being just as confused and conflicted as ever; hence the smashing of the Lighthouses mirrors, (But at the same time part of me thinks that is all part of Jacobs plan. I just wish I knew what his plan was. I have faith that the writers know what they are doing so its all good!) Hurley and Jack out on a mission, Kate doing her own thing, Claire concerned about her baby. It all just makes me want to go back and re-watch season 1. We did find out how Jacob knew about the castaways before the island (the Lighthouse). We also learned that Jacob didn't want Jack and Hurley at the Temple. Could this be because the Lockeness Monster is on his way with Claire, unwilling Jin, and new sidekick Sawyer in tow? Speaking of Claire and FakeLocke, I loved how she called him her friend and stated that it wasn't Locke. I also like that she threatened Kate if she did in fact take Aaron (which we all know she did), this might just be because I have never been on Team Kate though.

On the sideways world side of things I have to say that I like sideways Jack and Locke much better then Island Jack and PastLocke. They just seem to be much better adjusted then there island counter parts. But it seems like Jack recalls his Island life and part of me wonders if this is in fact the reason that they are so well adjusted. The parts of Sideways world I don't care for: Lucky Hugo, he's just not quite as fun as Island Hugo. Plus poor Rose isn't in NY so does that mean she isn't with Bernard? Plus she is still dying. Don't like this at all. If Penney & Desmond and Rose & Bernard don't end up happily ever after I will be sad. I mean come on they are minor characters at least give them this! Then there is Sideways Kate, same as Island Kate just looking out for herself. Somethings never change. I am looking forward to the Sideways episode that finds Sawyer and Juliet together, preferably married and happy and no Kate anywhere in sight.

I wish I could give you thoughts and theories about how this will all turn out. Maybe the castaways will get to choose what life they want to live, Sideways or Island. Or maybe the Sideways castaways will somehow raise the island from the depths since it is there destiny? Or maybe the show will end with both story lines continuing on and letting us choose which one we want to believe is real. I really have no idea and while this was frustrating for the first few episodes, tonight's episode has reminded me that I had no idea what was going on in Season 1 and I loved it. I mean who would have guessed 6 seasons ago that this is where we would have ended up? Not me. And in the end that is what makes Lost great so I am going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

The Amazing Race 16-2

SPOILER ALERT. Stop reading now if you haven't watch the latest episode.

After this weeks episode I have a new favorite team, the cowboys, Jet and Cord. They owned this leg of the race. From making the smart move about the buses, to llama whispering, to making German pie; this team worked really well. And the best part is that they did it all on their own no alliance needed here.

The same can not be said for the other teams. The brothers acted like brothers and fought the whole race. The detective's keep calling each other baby and I really can't get past it (thanks to the Soup for pointing that out!) The SC models did nothing to improve their image and nothing to make me think they aren't one big mistake from getting the boot. The same can be said for team Big Brother, which I hope isn't true because they are becoming great comic relief. The other teams all seemed to have an okay leg of the race but they way the season has been edited so far makes that a little unclear. Did we even see the father/daughter team complete anything this episode?

In the end the grandma/granddaughter team couldn't over come their slow and steady approach to the race and got eliminated. It is to bad because any 71 year old that can take a kick to the head by a cow and keep racing is okay in my book. At least they seemed to enjoy their time on the race.

Who do you want to see go next? I am thinking it will be the "baby" detectives, they just don't seem to have it all together but maybe their close call this week will change that.

Lost Theories by Caitlin..

Not really theories, more just questions..

There are obviously religious undertones. At least that's the vibe I'm getting. So..

1. Is Jacob really good? The Lost cynic in me says maybe not.

2. If he is good, does that mean that Latin lady (I forget her name right now.) is the Mary figure? I get the sense that she was pretty heart broken after finding Jacob died.

3. If Jacob is forcing people {against their will?} to come to the island, does that mean he might be the Lucipher/Satan in the scenario.

4. What in the heck is that little kid? My first thought is that it was Jacob reborn or something. Also the fact that he can only be seen when you join forces with the Locke/Smoke Monster is sort of an interesting little plot twist.

5. Why is Ethan, and Ben turning up off the island? Ideas? I'm at a lost. (Ha, pun not intended.) Is it implying that the Island never existed after the bomb that Juliet set off?

6. It's nice to finally find out what the smoke monster is, but is he like the judge on the island or something?

7. What's with the Sayid/Claire drama?

Anyway, I have stayed up way too late catching up on my Tivo tonight. So I am headed to bed, but if anyone has any theories, I would love to hear them. (On a side note, I loved watching Shaun White win the gold tonight.)

The Biggest Loser (Week 4)

This week was a dramatic one. The red team continued to deny throwing the last two weigh ins. And then they win immunity. The green team falls below the yellow line, and Migdalia leaves.

Here's my thinking on these two teams. The green team comes from a culture where they have to show they are strong and just as good as anyone else. They seem to want to prove to everyone and themselves that they don't need anyone. So I can see why it's hard for the other's to connect with them.

Now, I'm not saying they are perfect little angels, I just think a lot of where the fights are coming from is in the language barrier and they are feeling attacked. But I agreed that Migdalia should go home, just because she stopped wanting to be there, and I think a lot of her wanting to leave was that so she could see her husband before he left the country.

Now on to the controversial red team. Can't stand Melissa. Just can't. I know they are trying to paint her as the bad guy. But I just think she is bizarre. And was obviously lying. It's sad because she just doesn't seem genuine at all, and she keeps making a fool out of herself.

I think they got in over their head after Jillian and Bob called her on throwing the weigh ins and then she wanted to defend herself, and it just went South after that. And her husband just seems out of the loop and it's nice he wants to stand by her, but they're on the show to lose weight, so just do it.

Also it was bull that the red team thought the green team could lose the weight. One more lie to add to their stack of lies. Obviously the gray team was the team to choose, they just wanted them on their side.

Biggest Loser (Week Three)

This week it was student/teacher week. Meaning one of each couple had to be a teacher, who teaches the student (the other person). The student doesn't get to train with the trainers. Only the teachers do, and who then pass it onto the students.

The pink team won who got to pick who on each team would be the student and who would be the teacher. And then for the immunity challenge the gray team won. They not only got immunity, but they could pick one team to swap who was student and who was teacher. They chose the white team.

And the white team was who ended up below the yellow line. The red team however should have been who they picked, because the wife clearly threw the weigh in. There was some heated discussion, because she wouldn't fess up to it. It's just sad, because you could tell she was obviously lying. They ended up sending Maria from the white team home, because she asked for them to keep her son.

This week I thought the pink team acted like ditzes. The red team was a little shady. The green team struggled, but I think a lot of it has to do with their culture, and how tough they are.

My favorites right now are the gray team and the black team. Sam and Koli from the gray team seem to have the right attitude about this, and I love how they work out, and then smack each other around.

The Biggest Loser (Week 2)

The red team won immunity. The white team had a hard week. (and a black eye) But the purple team was the team to fall below the yellow line. Which means Patti got the axe.

It seemed like she was pretty well liked by the group. I still haven't found a favorite team. The red team seem like they might stir up some drama. We'll have to see. Any favorites yet?

The Biggest Loser (Couples)

In the first show we find two teams being eliminated after a challenge. The yellow team and the blue team. They are being sent home for 30 days to lose weight and then face off against each other. Who ever wins, gets to come back to the ranch. I think I am pulling for the yellow team on this one.

I have to say I like this idea. Get the people who maybe didn't try as hard as the others, or had a harder time. And make them workout hard to get back to the ranch.

The green team won immunity. They seem like fireballs, and seem to be pretty motivated. After a week of working out, the teams got together to weigh in. We see that the twin brother, brown team falls below the line. And everyone decides to send James home. It's the same decision I would make. The guy had bad knees and I think his brother will go further in the competition.

It proved to be a good decision when it's revealed at home he has lost 100 pounds in two month. Wow, for being at home and doing that. I have to give the guy props.

I think this seems like an interesting group of people. I don't really have any front running favorites right now. But I like how hard everyone is working.

Better Off Ted

Eric's Top 10 Movies of 2009

My favorite movie of 2009 was...Star Trek. As Caity said about 500 Days of Summer; Star Trek was just my kind of movie. It kept me entertained from beginning to end and even brought be back to the the theater for seconds, and thirds...and well you get the point.

Biggest disappointment of 2009...Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I just expected this movie to be so much better.

My ten favorites from 2009...

1. Star Trek- Best reboot of any movie franchise every (Sorry James Bond). I can't wait for the next one.

2. Up- This movie had the most heart and the most original story of any movie this year. It just happened to be in cartoon form, which I think just adds to its greatness.

3. The Hangover- I have been informed that this is the ultimate boy movie. That may be true but it had me laughing throughout. It might have been rude and crude but it was also very funny and touching. Just like life can be.

4. 500 Days of Summer- "This is a story of boy meets girl" and you would be hard pressed to find a better story. The way this story is told (out of order) is great as is the cast, especially the two leads.

5. The Blind Side- Another movie with a lot of heart and the fact that it's based on a true story makes it that much better. Sandra Bullock is great in this movie and really shows off that she can act.

6. District 9- The second sci-fi movie to make my list this year. I liked that this movie was not afraid to make humans the bad guys and aliens the victims. Yet at the same time you are rooting for both sides.

7. State of Play- A great thriller that isn't all about action (not that there's anything wrong with that). Here the plot is king and the twist and turns are every which way. It kept me thinking all the way to the end.

8. Sherlock Holmes- Who knew that adding a bunch of action to a literary classic would be so much fun?

9. The Proposal- This movie was just silly fun. Plus you get to see (and laugh out loud with) the always enjoyable Betty White.

10. Avatar- This is a last minute addition to the list. I kept going back and forth on this movie because of it's long running time (3 hours) and somewhat predictable story (It reminded me of an old western, only set on a different planet). But the visual achievements were enough to sway me to give it the number 10 spot. It really is a feast for the eyes and the best movie I have seen in 3D. The TV spots do not do this movie justice.

Caitlin's Top Ten Favorite Movies From 2009

My favorite movie from this year.. 500 Days of Summer (It was just so my type of movie.)

My least favorite of the year.. He's Just Not That Into You (Utterly depressing, and all of the women were co-dependant messes.)

My top ten favorite's from the year..

1. 500 Days of Summer (I will buy this movie.)

2. Star Trek (I could watch this one over and over.)

3. Up (Seriously one of my favorite cartoons ever.. and YES I cried.)

4. Zombieland (I didn't see this making the cut when I saw the previews. But it was hysterical and Woody Harrelson was made for this role.)

5. Inglourious Basterds (Sure it was violent, but I actually really enjoyed this movie. Brad Pitt was awesome in it.)

6. The Proposal (You can't go wrong with Ryan Reynolds with his shirt off..ever.)

7. The Blind Side (A movie with a lot of heart. Had I seen this movie before all the hype it might have crept higher on the list, but I felt it was just slightly too long. Still an incredible story and awesome movie.)

8. Taken (Totally cheesy acting, but still really intense, a perfect popcorn muncher.)

9. 17 Again (Surprisingly funny.)

10. Twilight (But only because it was so bad, it was good.)

The Amazing Race Finale

A few weeks back we saw Gary and Matt get eliminated. The following week we saw Brian and Ericka get saved by a non elimination round. Last week we saw The Globetrotters take a 4 hour penalty that put Brian and Ericka into the final 3. Yesterday we had the finale with Brian and Ericka, Meghan and Cheyne and Sam and Dan from here on to be known as the Marrieds, the Blonde's, and the Bickering Brothers. So now you should be all caught up.

The teams started out the final leg of the race heading towards fabulous Las Vegas (I think it's a law in Nevada to add the fabulous) on the same flight. Once in Vegas they had to find Elvis and The Little White Chapel. Marrieds and Blonde's and Brothers all got to The King at the same time and waited for him to finish his song before getting their clue. The whole Elvis/Wedding thing just felt awkward and lasted to long in my opinion. Anyways, after that it was off to do some repelling off the side of The Mandalay Bay, face first. Brian and Ericka got there first and Ericka seemed to have fun plummeting down the hotel. The Blonde's were next to arrive and I was a little shocked that Chyene did this one after making Meghan do all the other hard roadblocks on the race. It was fun to watch Ericka build a lead over Chyene whose fear of heights seemed to slow him down. The Brothers, doomed by a poor taxi driver, arrived last but Sam was the quickest down the building and made up most of their lost time.

The teams next clue took them to The Mirage where they got to take part of Love by strapping into a bouncing/elastic harness and being shot into the air by their partner to grab a bouquet of flowers hanging from the ceiling. The Marrieds were the first to arrive but Ericka had a meltdown at the worst time and from this point one you counted them out. The Blonde's finished first followed by The Brothers. The next clue told them to go to the most famous in Morocco. The Blonde's had no idea where this was (the Monte Carlo) and lost their lead. The Brothers who couldn't even say Morocco were the first to get to the Monte Carlo, thanks to a well placed phone call, and had to count out 1 million in poker chips. The Marrieds showed up next after what seemed like forever at The Mirage and The Blonde's after driving all over the strip finally figured out where they needed to go. During the counting of the chips the Brothers continued to fight and it effected their counting the chips. The Blonde's finished first, then The Brothers and The Marrieds. Then they had to go to the MGM Grand to find Mr. Las Vegas who turned out to be Wayne Newton. The blonde's knew who he was right away, the Brothers not so much and who knows what the Marrieds thought since we never saw this. Mr. Newton told the teams to find his house and the finish line. Not shockingly the Blonde's won the race to the finish line and the million dollar prize, I wonder if it was in poker chips? The Brothers came in second and The Marrieds in third.

I am fine with The Blonde's winning because they really stayed calm under the pressure of the race overall and the final leg in particular. I think if The Brothers could have just stopped fighting for this leg they would have been the winners but who knows. I would have loved to seen The Marrieds win but didn't think it would happen since they were always just so close but not quite close enough the entire race. Overall it was a good season I thought even if there were no real "villains" to root against. Are you pleased with the outcome? Who was your favorite team this race? Survivor Recap

I know at first I wasn't the biggest fan of this season of Survivor but since the tribes merged I am loving it! I love watching Russell cause havoc, love the way he keeps finding the hidden idols even after everyone else knows he has done it twice, love that people still trust him even after he keeps picking off people that are threats to him. If I was on the jury and he was in the final 2 he would get my vote. Say what you will about the way he plays the game but you have to admit he is out playing everyone else this season by a miles.

Tonight we got more ramblings from Shambo who I would not want to go against for fear that she would have a dream about me and make me her next target like she did to Dave tonight who simply (and justifiably) asked when her chicken soup would be ready (2 hours for soup? Really??). If Shambo wins the million I would be shocked. Dave was lucky enough that Russell slipped up and told John that he had the idol. This made John a threat and Russell wisely got ride of him with the support of all of John's former tribe members save Shambo who was sold that Dave would be the one to go next because she saw it in a dream. Seeing as Russell risked losing Shambo as a solid vote by keeping Dave and going against his word to her, it should be interesting to see what happens next. It also looks like Russell's former tribe mates are thinking that Russell may no longer be an asset which would be a mistake at this point I think. The only reason the four remain Foa Foa are still here is because of Russell and they would be wise to keep him around for a little while longer, just not long enough to get to the final 2 because if he is there he would win since the jury so far is made up of all blindsides that all blame someone other then Russell for putting them there. If they only knew...

So You Think You Can Dance

Another week of So You Think You Dance has come and gone. Channing and Kevin were the two eliminated this week. Am I heart broken? No, but I did think Channing could dance. She may not be the most personable dancer, but she is a really good dancer. As for Kevin, when I compare him to the other guy dancers I just think he's okay.

I think my favorite couple right now is Legacy and Kathryn. They're both like-able and talented.

My favorite dance was probably the contemporary piece or the pop jazz. They were both really good.

So who do you think will make it into the top ten? My guess is that Victor will go home, but am a little unsure about which girl.

So You Think You Can Dance

After Tuesday's performance show, I fell in love with Jakob and Legacy's dancing. They're fabulous aren't they? What's funny, is I usually like female dancers better. But this season I love the guys.

I was sad to see Pauline go, I felt like it should have been Mollee. I just don't think Mollee and her partner are quite ready to dance on the show. Their dance was a train wreck and I think Nigel was right when he said they were acting young. Not as much with what they were saying as much as how they dance.

Although I do think Nigel got a little too mad at them the following night. I don't think he needed to tell the audience to shut up, I just think he was upset that a good couple had to fall into the bottom three.

I think my favorite dance this week was Mandy Moore's Jazz routine. I loved the character that Jakob brought to it.

Last week saw the teams go to Holland or the Netherlands or whatever you prefer to call it. I call it awesome. Counting bells, clogs, salted fish, crazy farm golf, carnival games. Really what more could you need? Brian and Ericka had a terrible leg and due to not reading the clue so did their feet. I don't know how far I could walk in clogs but I am sure I wouldn't have gone as far as they did. But since they should have been on a bike I don't feel too bad for them. I for sure thought they were goners this week but once again it just proves that you should never give up. Why? Because as bad as their leg was it was worse for the poker players. The girls had no luck hitting the bell at the carnival then switched to golf, then back to the bell, them back to golf. They just could catch a break and it the end exhausted themselves into last place where. Eventually the quite the race and were eliminated, which is too bad because they were starting to grow on me.

This week the racers where off to Sweden where they raced to a theme park that I totally want to visit now and then played a little ring toss with the Travelocity Gnome before getting to go blow some stuff up. All the teams seemed to have a good time, but none more then the Globetrotters. They just seem like they are having a blast on the race. The part of the race brought back an old Race task, unrolling bails of hay to find a clue. The last time the Race did this task one team was there for 10 hours and unrolled over 100 bails of hay. I have been looking forward to this ever since I say it last weeks preview. And I don't feel let down. The brothers were the first to arrive and started fighting right off the bat. Sam was unrolling the bails and Dan seemed to think it a good a idea to yell at him. Not very helpful, then Meghan and Cheyne showed up and they too must have drank the fighting water since they were arguing most of this leg as well. Meghan was picked to unroll the hay after Cheyne wouldn't make a decision as to who should do it. Then the Globetrotters showed up and Big Easy was selected to unroll, perhaps this was his B-day gift to Flight Time. The Globetrotters were the first to find the flag in the hay and the first to finish this leg and have become the team to beat if they can keep running clean legs of the race. Meghan and Cheyne finished second, followed by Brian and Ericka. Props to Brian for bringing things into perspective for Dan by telling him the task wasn't that easy and his yelling at his brother wasn't helping. This left left the Brothers and Gary & Matt left on the field. Finally Sam found the flag and Dan broke down at the mat feeling terrible about how he acted this leg. But the real winner of this leg was Gary, the oldest racer left, who kept going until he found his flag even though there were no teams left. And it's a good thing he did because this was a non elimination leg and they will need all the extra time they can get next week for their speed bump. I am loving the Amazing Race! Sadly if I was there with one of my brothers I think I would have acted like the Brothers with lots of yelling but I would have loved to have preformed like the Globetrotters who ran a great leg this time around. Survivor Recaps

Last week Liz became the latest victim of Russell after she said she didn't trust him. Now I can't speak for the other people on the yellow tribe but wouldn't you find it odd that anytime somebody speaks out about or speaks against Russell they are then voted out? Okay, that might be giving the other 3 people too much credit, as the only reason they have made it this far is because they have kept their mouths shut, the only smart thing they have done.

This week the tribes merged and chaos broke out everywhere. Russell thought that he had the rest of his old tribe tied up and it seems like they will do his bidding but the purple tribe did make him nervous enough to play his idol at council even though he had nothing to worry about. I think this was do to the fact that he had pushed so hard to get Laura out, but since she (along with John) won immunity that wasn't going to happen. It was amazing how quickly almost every one's name got thrown out has the best person to be voted off. Well at least those people that spoke out the most. In the end Erik, whose plan it was to force out Russell's idol, was voted off. I think this was due mostly to him not being able to shut his mouth. Also the fact that he targeted Monica didn't seem to go over well with the rest of his former tribe. It's a simple number's game at this point and he should have convinced his tribe to vote out an old yellow tribe member. If he would have done this he would still be around, or he could have played his idol. But no, just like that we have a merged tribe and no hidden idols to worry about. If finally seems like the season is starting to pick up (Finally!). Next week looks like Russell may have some worrying to do and really it's about time the game plays him!

So You Think You Can Dance

Sorry life has been hectic. So I have missed posting on the first couple of shows. So a quick recap.

Billy Bell is off the show because of an illness. Luckily they are letting him come back next year. Noelle had an ankle injury. I was glad they gave her another chance to dance, and that they didn't cut her. I think she just needs to find her groove, and hopefully next week she will do well.

They replaced Billy with the Asian guy. Sorry, but I don't remember his name. He was fine, but I think he showed why they didn't pick him in the first place. He just needs a bit more experience. It will be interesting to see what he can do next season. He got cut the first week, but they are letting him come back, so it seemed like a good thing.

They also cut Ariana. It was sad because she was an amazing dancer. Her solo was killer. But someone had to go I guess.

Then yesterday they booted two of the tappers. Which I have to say didn't leave me that sad. I think tapping is really cool. You have to be really talented. But I just don't know how I feel about tappers on So You Think You Can Dance. I just don't know if they fit in. Especially in their solo's.

They cut Bianca (wasn't it funny how with Nigel's accent he was calling her Bianker?) and Phillip. I really liked Bianca last week, but this week I didn't love the dance she did. Phillip seemed nice, and they were both talented. But I was glad they kept who they did.

My favorite dances were Napolean and Tabitha's hip hop routine and Stacey Tookie's contemporary routine. I think all of the dancers shined in them. How good is Legacy getting? I am loving him. I also didn't think they gave Pauline enough credit for her dancing. She was so precise. I also laughed out loud when Ellenore did that alien thing. Too funny.

Overall I think the dances have been okay. I can't wait for a Mia Michaels routine. I think I didn't get into this week as much because it was a lot of ballroom stuff and a lot of the routines felt disjointed. That one where the Kate Bosworth look a like and her partner did that lift? It just felt awkward to watch. I am excited for next week.

The Amazing Race: Episode 6

The first part of the past week's episode had the teams take on a spy-like mission to paddle out to a yacht, retrieve a watch, then head back to their waiting team mate to open a briefcase that contained their next clue. Most of the teams figured out quite quickly that the time on the watch was the code to open the briefcase except the Globetrotters who seemed to have a hard time figuring it out and this problem quickly put them in last place. Once they opened the briefcase they found a detour waiting for them: Gold or Glass. In gold the teams had to go to a local jewelry store and weigh out 500k worth of gold. Only problem is the price of gold fluctuates my the minute so teams had to work fast to get the right weight to equal 500k. In Glass the teams had to assemble hookahs using all the parts in a crate and matching the examples of pipes already put together. Meghan & Cheyne who were in first the whole race choose the Glass detour and quickly set out on building their hookahs until Meghan let the frustration and the heat of Dubai get to her and left Cheyne to build the hookahs basically on his own. Brian & Ericka choose Gold and it proved to be too hard for them and after a few attempts they were off to Glass. The brothers and the Poker players continued to be a good team and the Brothers were smart enough to bring a calculator on the race but not smart enough to figure out how much gold they needed. Good thing for them the Poker players were there and used the bothers calculator to figure it out and help both teams move on. The Globetrotters finally getting their code to the clue showed up at the Glass detour and saw that Brian & Ericka were still there after two hours and quickly opted to try gold were they were smart enough to ask to borrow a calculator form a store clerk and quickly caught up to Mika & Canaan who were trapped at the top of a water slide by Mika's fear of heights, water, and what I can only guess is winning. I don't have any idea of how long Mika & Canaan sat at the top of the water slide but knowing that the pit stop was so close I don't know that I would have been as nice as Canaan or as understanding of Mika's fear, it's a water slide after all. Once the Globetrotters showed up Mika & Canaan had two minutes to go down before having to step aside and let the Globetrotters go. I was sure this would be all the motivation that Mika needed but that thought proved incorrect as she stepped aside and let the Globetrotters, and a chance at a million buck, go sliding by. Once down Canaan went down the slide hopping the Mika would follow but she never did and they walked to the pit stop where Phil informed them they were done. It's a sad way to go and I am sure Mika will hold onto that for awhile but it made for great TV! What do you think? Would you have been as nice as Canaan was about the whole thing? Or would you have dumped Mika right then and there? (For the record I think I would have pushed her down the slide hopping she'd forgive me later.) I mean you know what you are signing up for on this show! Do you think the Globetrotter's were out of line my taunting Mika before her two minutes were up? Or was it just good game talk? (I have no issue with it, it's just a game.) And will they be able to bounce back from last place in tonight's episode? Comment Away.

Survivor Recap

Yawn. This will be an easy recap. Why? Because nothing happened this week other then it's still raining. Okay that might be a little understated but really this has to be one of the most boring tribes in Survivor history. Perhaps its because it only seems like the show is focusing on Evil Russell but really can you blame them? Everyone else is dull. I mean stop complaining about the rain and do something about it. As long as there has been people there has been rain figure something out, make a better shelter, really just do something other then whine about the rain. If I am siding with Russell then there must be something wrong. To make matters worse the purple teams leader and hardest worker aka Other Russell had to leave the show after blacking out during a challenge. Both teams went to tribal, no one went home. Blah. Even though this weeks episode was new, it felt like a rerun. Can we just merge this people now to make this season a little more interesting. I mean really, I am getting bored and there are plenty of other shows on the Tivo waiting to be watched.

Two weeks ago on The Amazing Race the big story was the elimination of Zev and Justin after they came in first. The reason is because somewhere along the leg Zev's passport was lost and after they failed to find it they were eliminated. It was a shame because they ran a great leg partly because they befriended a cab driver who seemed to know the area really well. Online after the show we found out that Zev's passport had been turned into the US Embassy in Cambodia after Justin accidentally dropped in when taking out his head light in a dark temple while they were looking for the monkey challenge. Since Zev and Justin where eliminated this gave the poker players the chance to race another day. It was a lot of fun to watch the teams act like a monkey but it was amazing how many teams had no idea who was in the picture. Who doesn't know who Jackie Kennedy is? I mean some of these teams aren't that young and should have known right away who she was!

This week we learned more about what the racers didn't know. When told to find the world's tallest building (I knew where this was right away, but I am a major geek apparently) in the Persian Gulf some teams (Sam and Dan) went to the airport and asked for tickets to the Persian Gulf. Who didn't know this was a region not a country? Do they not teach geography in school anymore? Brain and Ericka helped of the brothers (and many other teams this leg) and told them that they were going to Dubai, U.A.E. I wish I could have been on this leg, it looked like a blast between the Burj Dubai, the desert, and Ski Dubai the teams all seemed to make great memories. In the end Lance and Keri seemed to be more lost or lost more often then Mika and Canaan and came in last. Lance and Keri argued a lot during their short time on TAR but they seem to truly understand each other and took the elimination better then I would have expected.

It will be fun next week to see Mika and Canaan have a blow up at the top of the water slide. In a race for a million bucks I will throw almost anyone down a water slide lets hope Canaan thinks the same, just for pure entertainment purposes. Survivor Recaps

Okay, I am two weeks behind on my Survivor recaps and I really don't recall all that much from the oldest episode other then the purple tribe went to their first tribal and Yasmin got sent home. If I was on this tribe I would have voted off Shambo after she lost a chicken because she "didn't know they could fly." A bird fly, who knew. But since Yas didn't help much around the camp, which is a valid point she was sent home. The purple tribe still has their numbers and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

In fact this weeks episode proved just that. The reward challenge was back. It involved eating seafood shakes that all looked gross. You had to keep all the shake down and the first team to 5 won. The purple tribe won steaks and other BBQ meats but in the course of winning they had to send one member to the yellow tribe. Russell chose to send Shambo since she had been there once before. Shambo didn't like this since that would mean she would miss the BBQ. Russell later said that he sent her as punishment for loosing the chicken. Cut to Shambo who keeps complaining that she really needed the protein from the meat. Guess what Sham, chicken has protein. Next time be more careful. Then Russell and Dave fought about a fire and the best way to start it blah, blah, blah. Perhaps because we haven't seen much of this tribe but I really don't care about any of them.

On to the immunity challenge. This one was all about weight. Two team members from each tribe had to hold onto a basket while opposing players threw in coconuts to weigh them down. Liz did surprisingly well but in the end the purple team overcame the other teams lack of basket shots to take the win. This sent the yellow tribe back to tribal but a rainstorm kept any of the castaways from running off and making plans. In the end the tribe voted Ashley off, perhaps because she lost the reward challenge or because she didn't seem like a physical player. If the yellow tribe keeps this up there won't be anyone left come merge time. Thoughts? Are you getting bored with this season? The Biggest Loser

Okay, yes.. I'm behind. Let's do a quick recap.

They all split up into teams. Purple team (a.k.a. not the healthiest team) got put together because they were both in the hospital when the teams were choosing.

Week One: the eight teams emerged. They all worked hard, but the Black team (Alexandra & Julio) fell below the yellow line and the teams voted to boot Alexandra. (Who had an awesome transformation!)

Week Two: they had to all work together to lose the goal weight, and if they accomplished it, no one got kicked off. Which they did. (Kind of a boring week, that they tried to make interesting.)

Week Three: (would you rather week) We find out Tracey (a.k.a Crazy Eyes) from the purple team has a competitive edge to her. She decides she wants to take a two pound advantage for her team in exchange for working out without Bob and Jillian. Which I didn't think was that big of a deal. Then in the challenge, she wins and gets to play God. We find out, she may be a little unstable, and maybe getting a little too caught up in playing the game. Which I can't fault her for, but she is just coming off crazy and putting a huge target on her back.

During the weigh in Tracey gets to decide who from each team is going to weigh in for their team. The orange team and the red team fell below the yellow line. The red team "falls on the sword" for the orange team, since one of their players is the biggest in history of the show.

So Antoine and Sean are booted from the show. I was surprised by this elimination because I thought these guys had a real chance at winning. Plus who doesn't love their victory dance?

Bringing us to this week...

Week Four: The orange team won immunity. The brown team and the black team fell below the yellow line and they voted for the other half of the Black team (Julio) to leave. He kind of bugged me, so I didn't really care. He just seemed kind of lazy to me.

So far my top three favorites are:

-Daniel (Orange team)

-Green Team (Abby and Allen)

-Coach Mo (Purple team) I think I have a soft spot for him. He seems so nice.

The people that are getting on my nerves:

- Crazy Tracey (Purple team)

- Shay (Orange team) I'm getting sick of the crying "speeches" she keeps making. (I know I sound heartless, but it gets on my nerves.)

Out of these I have already stopped watching Survivor, Cougar Town, and Dancing With the Stars

*I was new to Survivor and I just couldn't get into it with that crazy Russell guy. I think this is a good reality show for guys though.

*Cougar Town had it's funny moments. I really liked the actor that played her son, but in a whole, I wasn't impressed, it's a pretty sleazy plot and I can't see it going anywhere.

*Dancing With The Stars is boring me. My two favorites are Louie and Mya. I still have them recording, and I just fast forward to the dances I like and then find out who gets kicked off online. I'm sorry, but most of these people are not stars!

The two new shows that I am really loving this season are Modern Family (There isn't one episode I haven't laughed outloud at. Plus the dad lives in Utah, gotta support the locals.)

and Flash Forward. It's pretty intense, and I like that it is giving me something to watch and bite my nails through, while I wait for Lost to come back on.

Quick Recaps: Survivor & Amazing Race

Wow. I am behind. Not only on posting but on watching TV as well; my Tivo is getting mighty full, so I will keep this brief but feel to share your thoughts in the comments.

Survivor: Ben got the boot as the yellow tribe proved that Russell didn't rule outright after all. I was surprised that Russell went along with Jaison's plan to out Ben but after he opened his trap at tribal it was all over for him. I still fear Russell and thinks he has too much power over this tribe but I have to give him points for playing the game his own way. The purple tribe continued to dominate the challenges and with the sheer number of people they have over the yellow team I don't see that ending anytime soon. Shambo has all but signed her eviction notice if her team ever finds out about what she really thinks of them. On another note are you ready for them to go back to one reward challenge and one immunity challenge per episode? This whole one challenge thing makes things a little dull, unless of course you are on the purple tribe them you love it.

Amazing Race: This week we learned that Brian & Ericka have a good comeback in them, lets see if it continues next week. Only one of the poker girls carried her wait this week in my opinion but I liked them more then I have in the past. The Globetrotters came in first and I am okay with that. Mika and Canaan did a little dance for the water dragon that I would have loved to seen more of or seen how long it took them to figure out that's not how you get the clue. Then there was Lance that guy is crazy but I loved it when they couldn't find the stamp and were running around lost. The best part is that they were like this the whole episode and I really don't know how they didn't end up in last after this leg. No, that honor went to Marcy and Ron the only team not to choose the psychical detour and in the end they just couldn't keep up. I am sorry to see them go but there exit is no great surprise. Now lets talk about next week. Who do you think is going to loose their passports? My money is on Lance and Keri if judging by this week alone.

Okay that's enough out of me. I will update the site later with my thoughts on Flashforward, Glee, Modern Family and Cougar Town. Let me know if there are any other shows you would like me to review. Chances are I am watching it...at some point.

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is back and just as good as ever. Before I get to my picks for favorite teams, a brief recap.

Eric and Lisa became the first team to get eliminated at the starting line. This year the teams had to find a licence plate of the first destination, Japan, and present it to Phil to get their tickets to Tokyo. It seemed that no teams noticed that the Japanese characters they needed to find on the licence plate were also on their clues. After a few trys some of the teams started to put it together. I would like to say that I would have noticed the characters at the top of the clue but I can understand why it was easily overlook in all the excitement. Never the less you should always read your clue very carefully on this show, if you don't it will always come back to bite you in the...well you know where. Eric and Lisa where the unlucky victims of this new twist and I can't say that I was sad to see them go, sorry. They just didn't seem like a team I would root for but now I will never know.

In Tokyo the teams had to go on a Japanese game show and swallow down a huge wasabi bomb that of course was on a roulette wheel. If they didn't get the wasabi then they got sushi (which to me would have been much worse then the wasabi) those teams that did get the wasabi had 2 minutes to eat it or risk thier luck on the wheel again. Once the teams had finished their wasabi bomb it was off to the streets of crowded Tokyo with a 20 game show audience members who they had to take to the pit stop. In the end, Maria and Tiffany came in last and without all their audience members. But in a twist that wasn't a shock it was a non-elimination round so they got a 2 hour penalty and the added speed bump the next leg.

The next leg was in Vietnam where the teams had to race on little wooden boats to a mud pit and them transfer mud to the roots of a tree before a local farmer would sign off and give them their next clue. Maria and Tiffany made quick work of the speed bump (which seemed way to easy by speed bump standards) and were back in the game. After the mud pit the teams race back to the mainland and one team member had to heard a group of unruly ducks over a small bridge and then back into their pen. A few teams (Sam/Dan, Zev/Justin, Gary/Matt) made quick work of this task but others (Garrett/Jessica, Brian/Ericka, Lance/Keri) seemed to have a hard time and the ducks quickly picked up on their frustrations. In the end Garrett and Jessica couldn't make up the time lost with the duck run and where eliminated and the end. Again I wasn't sad to see this team go either. Maybe that would have been different if we got to see more of them but what we did see didn't make them come off as a great team.

Now for the teams I like and their are a lot after the first episode. I really enjoy Zev and Justin and hope they make it all the way to end. My other teams to watch are the brothers Sam and Dan, the Harlem Globetrotters Herbert and Nathaniel, father and son Gary and Matt and dating couples Mika and Canaan and Marcy and Ron. And there you have it my top team picks after the first episode. Questions: Was the speed bump too easy? Could you have eaten the wasabi bomb in two minutes? Are you a Duck Whisperer? Survivor: Soma Week 2

Well in week two Russell still is ruling over the yellow tribe and was somehow smart enough to look for the idol and find it without any clues. While I am not a fan of Russell's game play, I have to admit that it is working for him and his tribe keeps voting off the people that dare to go against him. This week that was Betsy and I was sad to see her go. At first I didn't think there would be a tribal for the yellow team after they lost immunity since Mike left for medical reasons after the quasi basketball-tackle game. But once it was revealed that they were still going to tribal no one dared go against Russell and Betsy was gone in a sweeping vote. Russell might be in control of the yellow team but if they continue to loose the challenges it will be a moot point since they other team will be able to pick them off after the merge. As for the purple tribe I still don't have any clues of who I like or don't like yet, although I think Shambo will be the first one kicked off once this team goes to tribal.

Survivor: Samoa

Survivor: Samoa kicked off tonight with 20 people, 10 on each team and while it is way to early to pick the ultimate winner it is never to early to pick the people you love to hate. And right off the bat 2 people stand out for that prize; Russell H and Ben who just so happen to be on the same tribe. Russell H is trying a unique strategy which is to lie to everyone and mess with his own team by pouring out all of their drinking and burning a teammates socks. It does cause contention but I don't see it as the best way to get to the final 3. Before long people will catch on to what he is doing and in fact some have during the first episode. Then their is Ben. He just doesn't seem to have a filter and it seems like in the end his mouth will do him in. But I could be wrong. The yellow tribe (Foa Foa??) won the first challenge and was awarded fire but the purple team (something with a G?) won immunity so Foa Foa was sent to tribal council where Russell H got ride of Marisa with the help of most of his tribe, although it seems a few don't trust him. Marisa was unfortunate enough to call out Russell on what he was doing and how he was playing the game and that made him see her as a threat and that was the end of Marisa. It seems like the purple team gets along pretty well and works well together and so far no one jumps out of the team as a strength or a threat, but there is always next week!

Alison Krauss: A Hundred Miles or More

Do you ever find yourself in need of a CD that is simply relaxing? Well if you do, then I have the CD for you. A Hundred Miles or More by Alison Kruass is just that kind of CD. The subject matter of the songs on this album cover every aspect of life but while doing so you can't help but be relaxed by the unique sound of Alison's voice. Once your drawn in my the melodies you start to pay attention to the lyrics and they run the gambit from happy (Sawing on the Strings, Down to the River to Pray) to heartbreaking (Jacob's Dream, Molly Ban) to hopeful (Simple Love, Get Me Through December, Baby Mine). Of the 16 songs on the album I can say that I really enjoyed them all, well maybe not You Will Be My Ain True Love as much as all the others but that might be because it is the one song that seems out of place on the album. Which is not to say that it is not a good song but just not as good as all the others. While the album is considered Country I would say that it is more Folk/Country then full on Country and the only song that screamed Country to me was Whiskey Lullaby and what a Country song it is! This CD is definitely worth a listen to. I have found that I have listened to it all the way through several times and keep coming back for more.

Duplicity

I like Julia Roberts...I like Clive Owen...and you know what...I really liked Duplicity. Due to the nature of the movie I can't go into to much detail other then to say that it is about spies, double crossing, corporate espionage, more double crossing, a complete lack of trust and so on and so forth. You should know that the movie starts out a little slow and it requires that you pay attention to keep track of its timeline that jumps back and forth over a 5 year period. But if you can stick it out you are rewarded with a movie that is funny and will keep you guessing til the very last scene. Duplicity is rated PG-13 and is now out on DVD and well worth a rental.

District 9

District 9 is defiantly not a movie for everyone. If you are not a fan of Sci-Fi movies or are one who can't stomach typical Sci-Fi violence then you most likely will not enjoy this movie. But if you can get past those things you are in for a very original movie where the aliens are not necessarily the bad guys and the humans not the good guys.

The movie starts by setting up the plot in a documentary like way. We learn that the aliens arrived in South Africa twenty years ago when their ship just stopped working. For 3 months the ship just hovered over the skies of Johannesburg with no activity of any kind until the humans cut their way into the ship to find the aliens malnourished and in very poor health. That is when District 9 is set up as a home for the aliens that over the twenty years becomes a slum and the residents of Johannesburg have had enough. Enter MNU tasked with evicting the aliens and moving them to a new home far away from the humans.

It is at this point that the movie really starts to take shape. We learn that MNU is more interested in the aliens weapons then their well being. The problem is the weapons are bio-engineered only to work for the aliens. Enter Wikus (the perfect fall guy should things go wrong), the man MNU has tasked with evicting the aliens who are called prawns in a derogatory way. While evicting the aliens Wikus comes across one alien who has developed an item that can help him and the other aliens get out of District 9 and return to their home planet. For the sake of those of you who have yet to see the movie I will leave it at that. Lets just say that things do not go as planned for either side.

The reason this movie worked for me is because it touched on so many aspects of human life. I have a feeling that if aliens where to show up on Earth they would be treated very much like those in District 9. There have been many comparisons of this movie to the apartheid in South Africa and that can not be ignored because these aliens really are treated like second class citizens who have little worth. In the end though the movie shows us what can happen if we can look past others differences and work together. District 9 is rated R, mainly for language and gory violence.

500 Days of Summer

I was talking to my mom about this movie, and when I was finished she said. "This seems like your kind of show." I realized she's right. Movies like this one, usually end up being my favorites. (Juno, Waitress, Amelie.. you get the idea.)

This movie was beautifully filmed. It had an amazing soundtrack. It was super funny. (I was laughing out loud most of the movie.) It had heart. This is probably my favorite movie of the year.

I love Zooey Deschanel, in fact I leaned over to my friend and said if I were to switch places with any celebrity, I really think it would be her. Her facial expressions are the best.

I don't want to say much more, as not to build it up too much, and not to reveal anything. But I loved it. I loved the whole thing, I loved how it was different and the ending was different. It felt like they captured how love really is, and can be. The good, and the bad.

Go see this movie!

The Ting Tings (We Started Nothing)

You know how there are those songs you just can't help but dance to? (American Boy, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, etc..) Well I found a whole cd that makes you want to jump out of your chair and dance, hum, tap your toes..

The Ting Tings album, We Started Nothing. So many great songs. You will have heard a couple of them from the radio, but some of my favorites are the ones that they don't play. Fruit Machine, and Traffic Light are genius.

I would also recommend seeing them live if you get a chance. We went (for only 12 dollars a ticket by the way) and loved the show. My husband even loved it.

Check it out. I think you'll love it.

SYTYCD (Finals)

I loved last nights show. A lot of great dances. I think my favorite was the number with Evan and Jeanine. I just thought it was fun. I also really enjoyed all of the solo's.

Evan: I think he is such a great dancer in his own style. I think he is the epitome of "personality" and that's why he has stayed so long. I feel bad that the judges keep giving him such a hard time, I just think it's because he is with some really talented dancers this season, so he sticks out a bit. He is my number four pick.

Kayla: I think she may very well be one of the best dancers, if not the best. But sadly Kayla doesn't have the personality the other's have. And since it's America's favorite dancer, I just don't think the title is hers. AMAZING dancer though. And she was in my favorite piece of the season (Addiction by Mia Michaels) She's my number three pick.

Brandon: Obviously amazing. Meticulous with his dancing. He can do anything it seems. He has an okay personality, but sometimes comes off as a bit cocky to me. Especially last night. But holy cow, his solo. Wow. If it were a competition for best dancer, I think he would win hands down. He is the runner up for me.

Jeanine: Amazing dancer, awesome personality. It seems like everyone loves her. Even Kat was saying how pleasant she was to have around. She seems so genuine. I think she has the total package to win this. This is who I voted for, and who I hope wins.

It's been an awesome season, with great dancers. I am pumped for the fall season!

The Bachelorette Finale

Glad it's over. This season felt like an eternity, and by the end I was just glad it was over. My only thoughts were:

- I guess it shows she does care a lot about Ed since she still loves him after those horrible tank tops and short shorts.

- Why was she sobbing when she let Kiptyn go? I get that it's hard, but if you are confident enough to get engaged to someone else, you wouldn't be acting like that I don't think. And I am sure ABC wanted to milk the Reid thing, but if I were Ed and saw the show, I would think "Hmm, maybe she just wants to get engaged, and isn't entirely sure about me."

I just know how sure I was when I got engaged to my husband. I would be sad to say goodbye to someone, but I sure as heck wouldn't be sobbing, and having to talk to someone else to help me decide. Although I can say that I have never been on a show like this, so maybe it's just a lot to take in.

- If Ed makes Jillian happy, and Jillian makes Ed happy, then good on them. I will still be utterly surprised if they end up really getting married. But you never know.

I am a tad conflicted about this show. I wish ABC wouldn't edit so much, and I feel like I don't really see what's going on. I also hate how cheesy they make it and how old people conveniently come back in the show. I get they have to make good t.v., but I feel like it's crossing into soap opera territory. I'm not sure if I will keep watching it. Can't wait for my fall shows to come back and I am loving SYTYCD and am excited I get to watch it in the Fall too!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I will start off by saying that I really liked this movie and it made me realize that I need to go back and read the 6th and 7th books. The 6th book was easily one of my favorites as it sets up the final book. The movie, while staying mostly true to the book, leaves a few things out and adds a few things the book didn't have. Nothing major and I think this movie followed the book much closer then the 4th and 5th movies did. I really enjoyed the humor in this movie as it off set the darker overall theme of the movie and provided some much needed laughs. The cast, especially the kids, have come a long way from the first movies and while there were cheesy parts (come on who wasn't cheesy in high school?) they really did a great job of portraying their characters. If you are a fan of the movies I think you will enjoy this movie. It is easily one of my favorite of the HP movies (my favorite is still the third) and has everything a good movie needs; action, drama, humor, romance, danger, intrigue, etc. The movie is rated PG but I don't think it was any less dark then the 4th or 5th movies that were PG-13. The end of the movie sets up the final book and final 2 movies well and I only wish that I didn't have to wait another year to see the next one. That's the true sign of a good movie, leave them wanting more!

So You Think You Can Dance (Top Ten Dancers)

Evan & Kayla's Dance:

It was okay. I liked Kayla's extension in her legs. I also thought Evan did pretty well. But it didn't get me excited.

Ade & Janette's Dance:

Okay, so week after week I notice this with Janette and always forget to mention it. Janette needs to close her mouth when she dances. It looks like she's catching flies. Obviously that's not a huge deal, but something I notice almost every time she dances. As for the dance it was fun, and had a lot of good elements, but I can't put my finger on just why I didn't love it. I wonder if I was excited for a Tabitha and Napoleon dance, and it wasn't as outstanding as the others. I couldn't tell if I was just bummed about the dance or the dancers.

Jeanine & Jason's Dance:

Wow, it was really good. I really thought the chemistry was there. I think Jeanine is a fantastic dancer. And I think Jason showed a great side of his dancing. I loved the use of the necklace. I really loved the dance, my favorite of the night.

Randi & Kupono's Dance:

I thought it could have been better. I just didn't really connect to it. I don't think the chemistry was there as much as it should have been. I basically thought. Hmm, it was fine.

Melissa & Brandon's Dance:

Fun. Well danced. Seems like no matter who Brandon is with he does well. I have always been a fan of Melissa's and her lines are to die for.

I have no idea who be in bottom tomorrow. Any ideas? Tonight was just okay for me. Maybe it's because last week was so good, that I was comparing the two. I always love the show though. Feelings? Thoughts?

The Bachelorette (Overnight Date Part 2)

I'm going to ask once more. Why in the heck did they have two overnight dates? Why aren't they meeting her family? Jillian, get your priorities straight, and stop leaning in for kisses, and making people promise they'll kiss you if you do things. (ie: "If I climb to the top of this pole, do you promise to give me a big kiss?".. If I walk across the street do you promise to give me a big kiss?)

Kiptyn's Date:

I was cracking up how they were trying to draw comparisons with what their activity for the day was, with their relationship. I thought the date was a tad boring, and can't understand why she can't see he's just luke warm about her.

Reid's Date:

Oh man I like this guy. I seriously don't blame him for not giving her "enough". She was pestering him to tell her he loved her, and say he would move, and everything else. He's probably like "Whoa! Slow down, why are we talking marriage after only a couple of weeks?"

It's like she has to have a proposal or nothing. Maybe she should have stopped with all the making out and found one guy to start a relationship with from the start, so it wouldn't feel like these guys have to decide within three dates.

Also ABC is sneaky.. they made it sound like it was Reid who had the problem in the bedroom.. which brings me to the next date with..

Ed.. E. D. (cough.. er Erectial Dysfunction.. I'm just saying it might have been a sign it was him ;)

Oh man, I have so much to say about Ed. I have always liked him. But I saw a couple of red flags last night..

1. Why was he wearing that heinous tank top and no wonder he had problems down there with those teeny tiny shorts. I don't know if that's a new style for guys, but ehhh.. I'm just not digging it.

2. (and more importantly) Why isn't he looking at her in the eyes when he talks to her? Seriously if you go back and watch it again, you will notice there was minimal eye contact. And call me crazy, but I would need some of that.

I think the thing she likes so much about Ed, is that he is saying he loves her and would propose. And you can't force things in a relationship. Sometimes you just have to let them happen. (Unfortunately my cable cut out on the alone time in the suite but I was caught up and it sounds like a horrible thing to have to talk about on t.v.)

It didn't surprise me she cut Reid at the rose ceremony, I think she's a dork for doing it, since it seems like he really likes her.. he just isn't that into cattle prodding. (Do you love me ...zzzzappp... Do you love me?....zzzzaaaap.)

I bet in a classic ABC twist Reid will come back and tell her everything she wants to hear. I also think Kiptyn is going to lay it on the line for her. He's Just Not That Into You. Theories? Ideas?

Funnest dance? Wade Robson's

My absolute favorite of the season? Mia Michael's

There was something about that dance that moved me. It was danced beautifully. The expressions on their faces were perfect. I don't know if it's because I have known people with serious addictions, but this dance was just right.

My favorite guy is definitely Brandon. He is meticulous with his movements and I have yet to see him produce anything less than perfect.

My favorite girl is Jeanine. I don't know if she is the best dancer. But I think she has the whole package. She dances beautifully and I love how she gets into her characters. I would love to see her and Brandon do a Mia Michaels and blow us all out of the water.

As for tonight my prediction is that Caitlin and Jason are going home. Do I think they're good dancers? Yes. Do I think they are as on the same level as everyone else? I don't think so. (Ha, I just sounded like Mary Murphy.)

My predictions for the bottom three are: Caitlin & Jason/ Evan & Randi (just because they are always giving Evan crap about not doing enough.. I really like both of them though) and probably Melissa and Ade (because they didn't get super exciting dances)

We went to Spain last night.

Kiptyn's Date:

Lot's of physical chemistry. No life long connection. Sorry. I think he likes her. I think she likes him a ton more. I think she realizes it too. I think he is looking at this as an opportunity to find someone to date. I think it would be bizarre if he proposed. Their relationship seems to be strictly physical. I think Jillian wants more, and I think Kiptyn wants sex. (I mean not one guy turned down that overnight stay card.. not even Wes as he was making her cry.)

Reid's Date:

I think Reid is charming. He likes her, she likes him. I'm not sure if he can make up his own mind without questioning everything. I fear they would get into a relationship and it wouldn't last too long. I thought they were cute on their trip around the city. And I do have to give Jillian honorable mention for pulling off that teeny tiny little outfit. She has a rockin' body.

Ed's Date:

Love Ed. I think his whole thing with him coming back was staged, but I don't care. I like him. I like how funny he is, and I like that he teases. You have to laugh in a relationship. I think out of all the guys he would be the one to most likely stick with Jill for a longer term relationship. But I'm not sure if I can hear those wedding bells.

Wes's Date:

Heavily edited. But no one can deny that he's a douche. He was acting ridiculous. No wonder she was crying. I love how he tried to hang out over night with her though. He didn't seem shocked when she sent him to the taxi.

The rose ceremony:

NO shock Wes was the one leaving. What was with his comment about having a lot of sex? Awkward much? When he left I was afraid he was going to be rude to her, but he was nice enough to her face. It seemed like they edited his phrase of "The first guy to the top four with a girlfriend." It almost seemed like he said something different. And apparently the girls in Spain are going to get to know him.. so maybe this Laurel is more of a booty call back home? I think he's a douche and I think ABC made him out to be the typical King Douche-ing-ton the Third. I'm just glad he's gone.

The up-coming previews:

Doesn't look like from the previews Jilly is finding love does it? The voice of Kiptyn saying he didn't want to hurt her? Her saying she picked the wrong guy? Sounds like last season with Jason to me. Sounds like maybe she gets rid of Ed or Reid and then maybe picks Kiptyn to be turned down? Also why are they doing two overnight dates?? Hawaii? I wonder if Jillian was like, "I need as much physical time as possible."

So next week they go to Hawaii, and then the following they meet her parents? I'm confused. Didn't they say it ended in two weeks? My prediction for next week is that Reid will have some problems in the bedroom, and she will pick Ed and Kiptyn. Ought to be interesting. My guess of who she picks in the end right now is Ed. Next week I am sure it will change. Does anyone have any predictions or theories??

** On a side note.. did anyone else notice Jillian had a hard time talking at one point.. it almost looked like she got botox or something and was having a hard time moving her mouth.**

To be honest.. I hate the drama ABC insists on bringing to the show. Yet, here I am watching it! I think Jillian likes the attention. I mean who wouldn't? But I don't think she is going to find love. I would be shocked if she ended up marrying any of these guys. I'm just not sure if this is the right venue for her to find love, since she gets so caught up in the attention and the making out-ed-ness (ha, I am making up words right and left!)

Reid's hometown date:

I think Reid is funny. I think he's handsome (I also think he looks a little like Matthew Perry.) I'm not sure if they are a match made in heaven.. but I like him. I also think there will be some drama with him next week.

Michael's hometown date:

I think Michael is sincere. I think he's funny. I also think he's young and he fell hard. I felt bad for the guy. But he'll find someone better for him in the long run.

Kiptyn's hometown date:

Wow, next to his sister Jillian seemed a little plain huh? I have my doubts. Obviously she likes him. There is obvious chemistry. I just don't see a long term relationship. But I can see him as a front runner.

Jesse's hometown date:

A little odd. But okay. Obviously she wasn't feeling it as much for him as for the other guys.

Wes's hometown date massacre:

uggh. No more of that dang song! No more drama. No more Wes! I think she kept him to dig deeper, she obviously has more of a connection with my top three faves.. Reid, Ed, and Kiptyn.

Ed's return:

I like Ed. It seemed a bit staged and everyone called that he was coming back, so I think ABC was stirring the pot with Jake, and with Ed. But I like Ed.. so I'm okay with it. And he's a lucky man since he gets to go to Spain. It seems odd he didn't come back before so she could meet his fam, but I guess we'll see where it goes.

My prediction for next week. She finally boots Wes, she keeps Kiptyn, Ed, and Reid. I think there will be some little Reid drama, but she'll give him and little Reid another chance. Did I just write that??! I think you catch my drift.

Any predictions? Favorites? I am kind of okay with this all wrapping up. I would like to see a fresh face.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

After reading a few mostly negative reviews I went into Transformers with low expectations. I wish I could say that it helped. Don't get me wrong the movie was entertaining and I wasn't expecting Oscar worthy stuff but there were a few things that kept me form liking the movie more then I did. First of all at almost 3 hours the movie was just toooooo long. Once you've seen a few giant robots battling it out you don't need 10 more fight scenes to prove your point, we get it, these robots really don't like each other. Next, while the special effects are amazing a little more attention to detail would have been nice. For instance, I don't remember downtown LA being in Egypt. I mean come on, you have robots that transform into cars and you can't photo shop out LA's skyscrapers? And while I am on the subject, the last time I was in Washington DC there weren't vast open spaces for airplane parking outside of the Smithsonian nor were there mountains outside of it either. Perhaps I have seen to many movies but these little things just chipped away at the movies credibility, a movie about giant robots non the less. Also the movie just felt like it had a whole lot going on, it could have easily been two movies with all the plot lines taking place. There are a few comic characters that break up all the explosions and robot death matches to keep the movie on a lighter footing. But overall it just felt to heavy and in the end this movie fails to live up to the first. While the first movie was just big dumb summer fun this movie seems to focus more on the big and dumb while throwing in a bit of fun, mostly as an afterthought. I am sure the movie will be a monster hit and you will have to let me know if you thought it was any better. Like I said, it was entertaining, it just could have been so much better...and shorter.

Can I just tell you how much I love Mia Michaels? I think SYTYCD is so lucky to have her. The way she choreographs movement gets me every time. Amazing. My favorite dance of the night was from these two doing a Mia Michaels routine. I loved the movement, I loved how simple it was, and I loved it's sassy-ness (I am making that a word :)

I also really liked Brandon and Janette's hip hop/rock routine. It just shows how good Brandon really is. And I have to say Janette keeps up with him pretty well.

But the two dancers I look forward to seeing every week are Melissa and Ade. They dance each routine given to them beautifully. I also felt pretty bad for Karla, because I think she was dancing right and Jonathan was lost and that messed her up. I haven't fallen in love with that couple though. For some reason I don't love Jonathan or his dancing.

My predictions for the bottom three tonight are:

- Karla & Jonathan

- Vitolio & Asuka

- Caitlin & Jason

Although I have been wrong a lot this season! Any front runners or predictions?

** Also I saw The Proposal last night and laughed a lot. I would definitely recommend it.

The Bachelorette

We start out this episode on a train going through the Canadian wilderness. Which I have to say was good advertising for Canada. I couldn't believe how pretty some of those views were. I liked that they were on a train, it broke up the monotony a little. The first date was a one on one with Robby. The date seems to be going okay, and then she gives him the boot because he's too young.

I think she is suddenly realizing it's getting down to the wire and she really does want to end up with someone to marry. So I can see getting rid of him. And honestly I never really cared for him either way.

Then it was snow shoeing with a group date. This date seemed fun, she and Kiptyn got cozy (as usual) They definitely seem to have the physical chemistry down pat. He gets the rose on the date.

Then it's a one on one with Reid. Who I really like and was glad to see him a little more. The date went well and she kept him. Apparently he's a tad OCD and a tad neurotic. He didn't bug me, and he seemed pretty funny.

Then they had a rose ceremony and she sent home Tanner (um yeah finally) and Jake. It was obvious that Jake wasn't exactly her cup of tea, and she didn't want to string him along by visiting his hometown and then cutting him. Which is nice. Plus, let's be honest.. Jake was a tad cheesy. I don't think he means to be, but some of the things he says are a little too Hallmark-ee for my taste and apparently Jillian's as well.

The only other thing to note is Wes is being a douche. But let's be honest people. No one is out right that weird and mean to the camera. Here's what he's doing (I think it's safe to say) his manager probably told him he needed to me memorable. So he has to play the bad guy to get us all to remember him. I seriously doubt he really is just a bad guy. I mean obviously he shouldn't have gone on the show, but Jillian won't pick him so I'm not too worried about it. And ABC is in heaven with the plot and ratings so I guess everyone wins. Jillian knows how the show can be. And she will figure it out and there will be drama, etc..

It looks like Ed will be coming back at some point, and someone has some issues on the overnight dates coming up.. seems odd they are even addressing that, and it seems like whoever the guy is.. is going to have his dating life ruined when the shows over. Classic ABC. Don't get me wrong.. I watch the show.. so I am contributing to the ratings.. I just wish they would chill on all the hoopla. Just my two cents.

I'm not convinced Jillian is going to find her true love and live happily ever after.. but I guess we'll see. Next week should be interesting. I have a feeling Michael might be the next one to get the boot.

Summer Movie Musts

Okay, it has been a while since I have posted on any movies and since summer has now official arrived (according to the calender anyway) I thought I would list the 3 movies you really need to see this summer on the big screen. Here they are in no particular order.

Star Trek: A reboot of a classic sci-fi series that I must say I never got into. That has all changed with the retelling of the crew of the USS Enterprise. We learn why and how the crew of the ship came to be there and what makes each of them tick. There are also lots of shout outs (I am told) to previous Star Trek shows for those who are not new to the series. A great summer popcorn movie that is really enjoyed best on the big screen.

The Hangover: One of the funniest movies I have seen in a long, long time. You should know going in that this movie earns its R rating mostly via language but there are other parts that are defiantly not for the under 17 crowd. But if you can get over the rating The Hangover pays off with big laughs, and a story that keeps you entertained for its entire running time. You are along for the ride with a group of friends as they try to find their missing friend and remember what happened to them in the process. After getting out of the movie you will be planning your next trip to Las Vegas!

Up: This may be the best movie of the year, it defiantly is so far. The story is king in Up and the animation is amazing. If you don't have a tear in your eyes during the first 10 minutes of the movie you may want to have your heart checked. And yes I know it is "just" a cartoon but really this movie has so much heart and developed characters that you really don't realize that it is a cartoon. Plus it is full of adventure, really it has something for everyone.

Recap on Bachelorette and SYTYCD

I have been feeling under the weather so I'm a tad behind on the shows. I will just give you a quick recap of my thoughts..

The Bachelorette:

- Jillian needs to take it easy on the alcohol. On the snowmobiling date I was cracking up. She could hardly form sentences. When she asked Kiptyn if he liked her, it just made me laugh. If you have ever been around a drunk person, this is exactly what they sound like. Don't get me wrong, tip back a few, but don't get sloppy drunk. I just think she's a tiny girl, and probably can't hold that much alcohol. But to be fair, it looked like they had all had a lot to drink.

- Ed's gone. I loved Ed. But he will most likely come back as a surprise. I really can't blame him, it's not like he had any assurance she was going to pick him in the end, and his job is important too. Especially in this economy.

- I like Reid. I like Kiptyn. As for the rest of the guys, I am feeling sort of blah. At this point, I am wondering if any guys really have a girlfriend, or if Tanner just ran his mouth. And why isn't she cutting more guys?? This is feeling like it's taking forever!

- The night was okay, but wasn't as good as last week. My favorite dance was Sonya's Jazz Routine. It featured Melissa and Ade (two of my favorite dancers)

SYTYCD Eliminations:

- BOO! I really, really liked Ashley. So far this season I haven't agreed with who they cut on the girls. It was a tough elimination considering all of the girls were strong dancers, but I think Ashley did better on her dance the night before than Caitlin. Oh well I still like Caitlin, and think she will do well.

- I kind of figured Max would leave, I agreed with that decision.

- My favorite solo performance was really any of the girls. I thought Caitlin's was really good.

Well that should cover everything I missed. Next week I promise to do better.

So You Think You Can Dance (Eliminations)

Well eliminations happened last night. I have to say I agreed to let Tony go. He was just the least experienced. But I wasn't gung ho about Paris leaving. I think even Nigel knew it was weird sending her home after seeing the solo's the girls did. But I think he kept Asuka for two major reasons.

1. He wants to keep Asuka because her own style is different, and he wants to keep the competition stocked with a variety of dancers.

2. Especially at the beginning I think they try to eliminate couples together, rather than splitting them up and forcing them to get used to another dancer all over again. It seems like in the past that's how it's gone.

I would rather have seen Asuka leave over Paris, just because I see a little more talent in her. But Asuka also has that personality they love. I think all the girls are super good dancers though. I have a feeling all season I am going to be sad to see them leave.

My favorite solo performance last night came from Vitolio. I thought he did a strong job, and was kind of confused as to why they didn't like it. These two got the axe last night. I can't wait for Wednesday!

So You Think You Can Dance

Wow~ what a night. Some amazing dancers, some amazing choreography.

You know how Mia Michaels said during auditions this season that she identifies with male dancers? She said she has a hard time really connecting with female dancers. Well I think I feel just the opposite.

My eyes are always drawn to the female dancers. I think some of the best dancers from last night were girls. Though there were a couple guys that caught my attention too.

I was amazed at how well everyone did last night. Even the ones that the judges didn't love were still really good to me. I think I am going to have a hard time choosing which dancers are my favorite. But this week..

My top 5 favorite girls are: (in no particular order)

-Paris (I thought she did a lot better than they gave her credit for)
-Caitlin (no, not just because we have the same name :)
-Ashley
-Melissa

(Oops! That was six! See, I told you I thought all of the female dancers were incredibly good)

And my favorite dance this week was: Tabitha & Napoleon's dance with Jeanine and Phillip (When Phillip did that body roll thing on the piano solo, I about died.)

(I also loved Tyce's "I Only Have Eyes For You" dance as well as Mandy Moore's contemporary routine. When they both leaped together... are you kidding me? Seriously amazing!)

Man I love this show!!

Who do you think the first couple to be eliminated will be? I don't have any idea. I guess if I were to choose tonight it would probably be Tony (he's just not as strong as the other dancers, and I have no idea who the girl would be?? Maybe Asuka? But I thought she did really well, so I really have no idea.) What do you think?

The Bachelorette (Episode 4)

Here's a quick rundown on my thoughts..

- I like Kiptyn. I think he seems great. But what I realized last night, is I don't think I like him for Jillian. My ever changing top favorites as of now, are Ed and Reid. That being said, I'm sure next week ABC will reveal that one of them is really a woman and I will have to recant.

- I'm glad David left, I just don't think I could take one more intense moment with him.

- I'm excited for next week's episode, hopefully Wes gets the boot. At least I didn't have to hear another chorus.. I was worried he was going to start singing on the ice while curling.

-Jillian seems great, I really liked her apartment, but the only thing I dislike is when she leans in every time for a kiss, but I have said that before, so I think my point is made.

Wow, I'm a bit behind. I just watched the Bachelorette last night. A couple things stuck out to me..

1. Was it just me or did that zip line seem incredibly slow? I first saw it and thought, "Wow, that would be so fun.. and then they did it and it inched along like the Heber Creeper. What cracked me up was ABC was trying to make it exciting with the music in the background, but it seemed pretty tame to me.

2. Does Wes think we aren't noticing that he only has one song? "Well, they say love, it don't come easy..." (And why are we only ever hearing the chorus??)

3. Why do they keep doing acting dates? No, but really?

4. Jillian! Take it easy on all that kissing! You're coming off a tad desperate.

and finally the last thing that had me screaming at my t.v...

Why are they cutting so few men every time?? Stop dragging it out! David.. you're fired, Wes.. you're fired, Tanner.. you're fired. (See that wasn't that hard.)

Well the good folks at Pixar have done it again. Up is Pixar's 10th movie and like each of the movies before it, it has heart, looks amazing, and contains an actual story that you really get into. Really how do they do it? I have yet to meet a Pixar movie that I didn't like and what is more amazing is the fact that each of their movies, Up included, is aimed at every age group. Just because it is a cartoon doesn't mean that adults won't like it and vice versa. In fact adults are more likely to enjoy Up then kids. Don't get me wrong kids will love it too but the story is really aimed at adults.

In the first 10 minutes of the movie we meet Carl and Ellie as kids and watch as they grow up, fall in love, and plan and adventure to South America. Sadly they never get to take this adventure as life flys by and before you know Carl and Ellie are in their older years and soon Ellie passes on. This leaves Carl feeling all alone in the world, a fact that is made even more real my the large development that is threatening to take over his and Ellie's home. Instead of watching this happen Carl ties thousands of balloons to his house and takes the adventure that he and Ellie were never able to. Along for the ride is Russell, a Wilderness Explorer, who only needs one more badge (assisting the elderly) to become a Senior Wilderness Explorer. While in the process of trying to earn this merit badge Russell becomes a stowaway on Carl's journey south.

Once in South America Carl and Russell are in for the journey of a lifetime. They meet many exotic and strange creatures and even an old heroes of Carl's and Ellie's. But the most important thing that Carl and Russell learn is that no matter how old or young you are, you are never alone and that adventure is out there.

This movie is full of heart and charm and really you would be hard pressed to find a better written movie this summer. You are so wrapped up in the story that you almost don't notice the amazing backgrounds the animators have placed right in front of your eyes. I say almost because really the location of the movie plays a big part in the story. The story may be harder for some younger kids to understand up there is enough humor and side characters to keep the over 3 crowd entertained for the entire movie. Like I said, this movie has something for everyone. Make sure you see it on the big screen and if anyone sees it in 3D (I didn't) let me know what you thought. Until then, adventure awaits...

The Bachelorette Episode 2

Oi. I'm going to keep this short, because from reading a ton of other blogs on this episode, it sounds like we are all about in the same boat. A boat of confusion maybe? Confused on what these guys are all a-boat.. get it.. she's Canadian.. never mind.

Let's start out with WHY, why oh why.. did he get another rose? Seriously, any ideas for me?

Next, let's talk about how I am having a hard time picking a leader of the pack. Kiptyn is remaining my number one choice right now, but I think it's time we talk about dear little Jilly..

Sadly, I don't think she quite understands "playing hard to get". When Wes looked like he was bored and not interested in her.. what does she do? Lean in twice for a kiss.. and then sits awkwardly on his lap. Kiptyn looked like he was into kissing her.. but let's be honest one of the two really awkward kisses on that episode. (The other one being with Jake, who took the reigns, cut her off mid sentence.. and in an attempt to be romantic, kissed her in a way that ended up being just plain weird.) I get that Jillian doesn't want to play games, but guys don't want a girl throwing herself at them either. And when she was going on and on about Wes being tall, and cute, and a great singer.. he just looked.. well bored.

Okay, enough of that. I am turning this into a longer post than I intended. Top pick at this moment in time, is this guy.

I'm hoping Monday will be better and we'll get to see more of the other guys. Because the one's they have been spotlighting are all a tad bizarre. Case in point..

I have never seen anyone get so ticked about every little thing. Dude.. chillax.

So You Think You Can Dance (Auditions)

I'm not going to start posting on this show until the auditions are over, but I quickly have to say. Tyce.. not loving him. I don't know if he was trying to come off funny last night, but he went overboard, and ended up just coming off arrogant. At least when Mia Michaels critiques she is trying to help them improve.. it seemed like Tyce just wanted to make fun. Anyway, just my thoughts. He rubbed me the wrong way. That all being said...

I am so excited to see how Vegas goes. Man I love this show. It's actually sad how much I love this show.

The Bachelorette Episode One

We met the 25 guys last night.. but wait there's more.. 5 more. Yes this season (for the first season ever.. as Chris Harrison kept reminding us) Jillian got to choose from 30 guys. It was a full house.

Overall I have to say I really like Jillian. She seems down to earth, seems like she really does just want to meet her best friend and husband. She handled the guys pretty well and she just seemed grateful to be there.

First impression rose went to this guy..

.. who not only had one of the weirder first meet and greets. But really didn't seem all that great. And not even that cute. But maybe there was some editing. He just seemed a little arrogant and confrontational. Maybe he will grow on me.

It was a pretty tame night. A little singing, a little showing off, and a little foot fetish. This dude was obsessed with feet and was weird. I kind of wanted to barf when he was talking. 'Nough said.

Also I think this guy scared her off with his close talking..

I did pretty well on my original guesses. She kept them all but Caleb the photographer. He was kind of weird when meeting her. This season looks like it's going to be a tad dramatic (shocker.. if there isn't any drama, ABC will create it and then tell Chris Harrison to tell us all about how it is the most dramatic season EVER.)

From what it sounded like.. three of the guys may or may not have girl friends, one guy came on the show to be the next bachelor, and the guy who sang came on to promote his career.. I guess we'll find out. I just don't want little Jill to get hurt! (Seriously I need to stop watching reality t.v... I get too invested!)

My top picks so far are..

Kiptyn is still my number one. He's cute, he has a good job, and he seems genuine.. just like Jillian.

Number two vote still goes to Jake. Handsome.. pilot, and made a good first impression.

Number three is Ed. He seemed the most normal and down to earth. I liked that.

My number four is Juan..probably won't go far. I just liked how he was chill and didn't get in any one's face.

Okay, so what did you think? Any favorites? Also did anyone notice this nerd spouting off the weirdest things all night? "There she is, that vixen!" I was kind of surprised she kept him.

It should be noted that I am irrationally excited about So You Think You Can Dance this week. Why does it seem like I don't have a life? Don't answer that.

Last Minute Lost Theories

Okay, the Lost Season 5 Finale is on in just a few hours. Here are some last minute theories that have been running through my mind.

I think the 2007 Losters will go in search of the H-bomb that lies in the shadow of the statue, or at least did.
I think the 1977 Losters will damage said statue when trying to move said H-bomb
I think Locke will either tell Ben to move the island, thus forcing Ben off again and bringing everyone to the same time in 2007. Or I think Ben will be asked by Locke to dispose of Jacob thus causing Ben to have a falling out from the Others and securing Locke's role as leader.
Kate will do something stupid and selfish, because that's what Kate does.
I fear for Juliet, I really hope nothing bad happens to her but think it might.
Jack will be unsuccessful in his attempt to stop the incident from happening at the Pearl station.
Said incident will result in the 1977 Losters to be sent back to 2007. Where they find Locke has become the new Ben and starts hunting down his former beach mates.
Hurley will provide some much need comic relief, along with Miles.
I wouldn't be surprised to see some old faces pop up during the 2 hour finale.
I hope we find out where Bernard and Rose have been this whole time, oh and Clarie too.

Well there you have a few of the many thoughts that are running through my mind. I am sure most of them will prove to be incorrect. But I do know that there has yet to be a season finale of Lost that didn't blow my mind. I have a feeling tonight won't be any different. And for those of you who fell of the band wagon, you have until next January to catch up, I have all the seasons and will be holding a summer class for you to catch up!

Star Trek

Like the movie poster, I am going to keep this review simple. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! One of the best, if not best, movies of the year. I was never really into the Star Trek movies and I found it very easy to feel connected to this new "rebooted" version. Really a must see in theaters, I am already planning a return visit.

The Bachelorette w/ Jillian

Oh boy.. it's that time again. I am a little mad at ABC after last season's fiasco. It seemed staged, it seemed ridiculous, and it seemed a tad cruel. But I am looking past that since Jillian seemed like a person of substance from the last season. So I have high hopes. Okay, I have hopes that this season will be better.

So without further ado.. or was that adieu? I never remember. I give you Little Miss Bachelorette Jillian. She's got great hair, style, and has a great personality to boot.

This season they are giving her five extra men to start out with. It should be an interesting premier on May 18th. My top four picks are..

Kiptyn (What the heck kind of name is Kiptyn?? Sounds like a robot name.) I think his name will help him stand out and his good looks can't hurt anything. Plus he's a Business Developer, so I think he seems like a safe choice.

Next choice.. Jake (solid sexy name) Um hello, good looks AND a Commercial Pilot? Yes, Jake, I'm excited to meet you.

Third choice? Caleb. I chose Caleb because he seems scruffy and he's a photographer. I work around photography all day so maybe I'm biased. But who doesn't think a male photographer is sexy? I like his strong jaw.

Last pick is Mathue. He's a Personal Trainer so you know he has a good body, and he's got a cute face too, so yes, I know I'm being a tad shallow, but I think he will at least make it past the first elimination.. well unless he has the personality of a mop. Or doesn't pass Jillian's hot dog test. Why did that sound dirty?? (If you watched the last Bachelor that will make sense.)

So there you have it, a sneak peak of my fave's for the Bachelorette. Oh and why in the heck did Jillian let them choose this picture?? I am having a hard time believing that's actually her nose!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I was excited to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine as X-Men was, and is, my favorite comic book based movie. Sadly the new Wolverine movie did not live up to my expectations. I really don't have any issues of the story about the origins of Wolverine. You don't go into comic book movies expecting Shakespeare. However the story really doesn't live up to the first two X-Men movies, it is more in line with the third X-Men movie. Sure you learn about where Wolverine comes from and you really can't find fault in the way Hugh Jackman brings the character to life by adding in the little bits of humor the movie could use more of.

The main fault I find with this movie is the special effects. They really felt low class and at times come across as just plain cheesy. And not cheesy in a good way. We are talking about Wolverines trademark claws looking so fake you can't possibly take them seriously. Which is a shame because Wolverine really deserved better (and it was better in the first movies so you know it can be done).

Perhaps if you go in with lower expectations you will enjoy the movie more then I did. Sadly by the time the movie ended I just left feeling disappointed. Oh well at least I have the first two X-Men movies to reverse that disappointment.

Quick Reviews: State of Play, 17 Again, Bedtime Stories

It must have been the weekend because I ended up watching 3 movies. Here is a quick recap of each.

State of Play: I really enjoyed this movie. I am a fan of thrillers that make you use your brain. It has been awhile since I have seen a good old fashioned political thriller. While the movie was a little on the long side I didn't find myself getting bored at any point during the movie. The cast is great and full of many well known stars: Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright Penn, and it just keeps going. If you are looking for a lot of action then this movie isn't for you. This is a thinking man's, or women's, movie.
17 Again: I admit that I laughed a lot during this movie. Sure it is predictable down to the last scene, but you are laughing down to the last scene. I have never seen Zac Efron in anything before this but thought he did a good job, especially since he was basically carrying this movie. Think of this a Big only in reverse and you pretty much know what you are in for. Some humor in this is not for the under 8 crowd as it leans a little more on the teen/adult side.
Bedtime Stories: Not your typical Adam Sandler movie but at the same time it is your typical Adam Sandler movie, just aimed for a younger crowd. If you have younger kids they will be sure to enjoy this movie since the Bedtime Stories that are told take a strange twist and come to life the next day. The movie felt a little rushed and seemed like some of the special effects were an afterthought. Overall I did laugh, mostly at the minor characters and the guinea pig, but I am glad that I saw this one on DVD when all was said and done.

Reviewed: Austrailia and Cupid

Another week another double review. Up this week Australia (now on DVD) and Cupid (Tuesdays on ABC).

I wanted to see Australia in theaters until I found out about its almost 3 hour running time. If movies are that long they should come with an intermission, so needless to say I did not see it in theaters. But thanks to the magic of DVD I finally caught up with the movie from down under a few weeks ago.

Australia comes from Baz Lurhman, who brought us Moulin Rouge and just like that movie stars Nicole Kidman. This trip to Oz also includes Hugh Jackman. The movie is really filmed well and is very enjoyable from a cinematic stand point. You are treated to views of Australia that are rarely seen in film as the movie does not take place in Sydney but rather in the rugged Northern Territory. The movie really felt like two distinct, separate movies. One about a wealthy English lady going to Australia to sell the cattle and land she and her husband own. There she meets a cattle hand and goes on the cattle drive with him and a few others in hope of restoring the farms prestige to make it easier to sell.

The second movie could have easily been the sequel to Pearl Harbor as it takes place in Darwin during the Japanese attacks of WWII. We have the same characters as before but the movie has a much different feel then it did before and takes on a much darker tone. Overall both parts of the movie are enjoyable and the cast makes it even more so, but I am glad I saw this one on DVD so that I could take a break between the two very different parts. The best part of this movie is the interaction between Kidman and Jackman and the aboriginal boy who links them. If you are looking for a good modern day epic-like movie then this is the way to go.

Cupid is about a man who believes that he is the Greek god of the same name. Cupid, aka Trevor for the non-believers, has been thrown out of Mt. Olympus because he got a little to careless with his bow and arrow and can only return once he has united 100 couples that result in true love. Along for the ride is Cupid's therapist who takes responsibility for him so that he can leave the hospital. Claire, the therapist, believes that Trevor had is heart broken and this is what caused him to think that he was Cupid. We as the audience are left to make up our mind about which of these options is the true one. This lends a certain realistic feel to the show and it really has its funny moments. The supporting characters are great as well as the leads. If you don't have anything better to do on a Tuesday night, and I know I don't, then check out Cupid. You might just like it.

Lost: Quick Recap

If you haven't watched the latest episode of Lost, stop reading now. Really, stop. Okay I warned you.

Tonight we found out the fate of Ben after being shot by Sayid. I had guessed a few weeks back that current time Ben would wake up once 70's Ben was curred. I did not however think that Kate and Sawyer with a little help from Juliet and Richard would be the ones to save him. What was even more of a shock is that tonight we found out why Ben is the way he is. When Kate and Sawyer took young injured Ben to Richard to be healed by the island, Richard told them that if he helped them Ben would never be the same that he would not remember what happened (we now know why current Ben doesn't remember being shot by Sayid) and that he would lose his innocence, ie; become the evil Ben that we all love to hate. Tonight Ben became an other. I also found it interested that Charles Whidmore and Elle (Faraday's mom? Penney's too?) seem to be in charge of the Others in the 1970's. Does this mean that Penny was born on the Island? Does Desmond have to go back to the island to save Penny in the 70's. I want to see that episode now! Please.

Tonight we also got the reason why Kate left Aaron and came back to the island. I sorta believe that Kate would give Aaron back to Claire's mom but I don't see what Sawyers ex had to do with it, other then Kate keeping her promise to Sawyer. At least she can keep one promise because she had no trouble telling anyone that would listen that the whole Oceanic 6 cover was lie. That right there is why I don't like Kate, she does whatever is best for her at the moment. Which is why I can see why she would give up Aaron. I don't get why she wouldn't tell Jack when he asked but she did get something from him by not telling, which is probably what she wanted at that moment.

Overall a good episode and I can't wait for next weeks episode which seems to center around Ben. I also loved tonight's ending with Ben waking up to Locke, the man he had killed just a few days before. Oh and I loved the interaction between Hurley and Miles trying to explain time travel. The fact that the writers can bring to light how many of us viewers feel on the whole subject makes me feel like we are in good hands. Plus its good to know that Hurley is just as lost as the rest of us. Check back soon for the connections between lost and early Egypt, there are more then you may think.

Random Reviews

Since it has been awhile since we have updated the site, I thought I would give a few quick reviews on some of the TV shows and movies I have seen lately.

Castle-Mondays on ABC

Castle is your basic cop/forensic/investigative show. The twist here is that a popular crime novelist/single father is working with a female detective of the NYPD. The reason why, we are told in the first episode, is because the mayor is a big fan of Castle (the writer) and allows him to help on a case that resembles a scene from his book. After helping solve the case the experience allows Castle to break his writers block, thus leading him to a full time consultant role in the department. The show is somewhat predictable but there are enough differences from the other cop like shows to keep you interested. Overall not a bad show and the cast makes it a little bit better, especially the smaller characters.

Better Off Ted-Wednesdays on ABC

This half hour comedy is pretty funny and anyone who has ever worked for a big, heartless corporation can relate. It follows the staff of a big multi-interested corporation and the people who work in its research and development group. There a plenty of laughs to be had and the show moves at a brisk pace and the characters are all likable enough, even the boss lady, who you love to hate but love at the same time. If you need a laugh to break up your week Better Off Ted isn't a bad choice.

Rachael Getting Married-Now on DVD

I wanted to like this movie because I like Anne Hathaway and was interested to see her in a more grown up role. Sadly the movie takes itself way to seriously and it was just boring and dull. Sure Anne Hathaway does a good job and makes you believe that her character has issues, but in the end the movie takes too long to get its point across. Some of the scenes here just went on and on for what seemed like an eternity and it just felt weird and forced. I found myself checking how much time was left every 10 minutes, which felt more like 30 minutes.

Twilight-Now on DVD

Okay I didn't watch this last one since it has been out on DVD, but have heard way too many times during the last week that it was now out on video and thought I would provide my opinion once again. Worst vampire movie ever!! Sparkly vampires are not scary nor something to be scarred of. I know that a lot of people enjoyed this movie but I just don't get it. Its not well made or well acted and doesn't have any redeeming quality that I can recall. To those of you who enjoyed the movie, good for you! Just don't ask me to sit through it again...ever!

Race to Witch Mountain

I have to confess that I was excited to see Race to Witch Mountain as I was a fan of the original movies, Escape to Witch Mountain and Return to Witch Mountain, from the late 70's and early 80's. What can I say I have a soft spot for those movies as I had watched them numerous times growing up, just don't ask me to explain them. I just remember that I liked them when I was little. Needless to say, I was excited when I heard they were doing a remake. It's the little things that bring me joy these days. Anyway on to the new movie...

...I have to say that I was not disappointed by Race to Witch Mountain. It was a fun family movie in the same vein has National Treasure, the first one not the second, that had something for everyone in the family. Action, Adventure, Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi, you name it this movie has it. Did that make it feel like there was a lot going on at some points during the movie? Yes, but the overall plot moves along at a brisk pace and there is enough car chases and explosions to keep you from thinking about all the side stories to much. They are there for comic value and so on and do serve their roles well.

The cast here is led by Dwayne "No longer the Rock" Johnson, who seems to really be enjoying his time here. You really feel that he develops a connection to the two alien teens who hitch a ride in his cab at the start of the movie. This really is a movie for the whole family and there doesn't seem to be many of those out there these days that the whole family will actually all enjoy. It is rated PG and there are some frighting scenes that may scare the under 4 crowd, but come on it is a movie about aliens so I think you know what you are in for. It is no worse then E.T. so if they can handle that movie they should be okay here.

So far who I want to win is either Mike from the brown team,

or her

or Tara from the green team.

Have to say though, I don't really care this season. They all seem to whine too much and I don't feel like I am really pulling for any one person. I want another season like Ali's!

Coraline

First things first, this is not a kids movie. Leave the under 6 crowd at home as this movie is creepy for adults let alone kids. Coraline is the story of a girl whose family moves into an apartment in a old house. As an only child Coraline is forced to be creative and mischievous when she is ignored by her parents. In exploring the new house she finds a small door that has been covered will wallpaper and bricked in. Late one night Coraline follows some mice into the door that has magically been un-bricked. On the other side she finds an alternate world where everything is perfect, the food, her parents, the neighbors, everything. Only thing is all the people have buttons for eyes. Coraline easily lets this go as life is good on this side of the door. After subsequent visits however things start to unravel. Coraline comes to understand that this world is not as it seems and to get back home she must save the souls of children trapped in this world.

This is where things start to get really creepy when when learn that the "other Mother" or ruler of this other world has no desire to give up her prized souls. Coraline makes a deal with her that if she finds the souls then they can all leave and if she doesn't the the other mother can take her eyes and replace them with buttons. Creepy!! I won't say any more but will say that Coraline realizes that her parents weren't so bad after all.

The stop motion animation here looks really cool and is one of the better movies I have seen in 3D, but the movie felt a little too long. If you are looking for a different animated movie this is the way to go, just make sure to leave the youngsters at home or be willing to be up with them after the nightmares.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I saw this one a while back but was so underwhelmed I haven't gotten around to writing it up until now. Now it should be stated that I went into this knowing it was a chick flick and therefore fluff which is fine. I can be entertained by fluff, I mean I like cotton candy and what is more fluff then that?

Sadly I was not entertained by Confessions of a Shopaholic. Maybe I wasn't in the mood to watch a girl who has way to many material things complain about how hard her life is when the bill comes. Being a grown up sucks, welcome to the club now you better get some of those things returned. Anyway off my soapbox. This was not the reason I didn't enjoy the movie, that reason is because the whole movie seemed lumped together in a hurry. Plots points are brought up and then resolved in the next scene without any explanation of how they were resolved. The cast does an admirable job with the material provided but in the end they couldn't overcome the tired story lines and standard chick flick plot. I don't mind chick flicks, really I don't, but I do ask that they be good. This one was not anything special and can be enjoyed best with a good return policy, I suggest Redbox.

Bachelor (After the Final Rose Part 2)

The only thing I found interesting in this episode was that we found out who our new Bachelorette will be. Jillian. I will be excited to see the new show in May, mainly because I know she will be real and fun, and of course dressed well.

I know a few won't agree with me. But I have to say I think a large amount of this show was staged. I don't think Jason's a bad guy. I think he had true feelings for these girls.. but something was off. And let me be the first to say I started out loving this guy, and didn't want to believe anything was fake. But sadly after seeing last nights shows, I just can't believe everything was on the up and up.

It almost seemed like him and Molly were acting. And they kept bringing up how much he would regret it. It just didn't seem real to me. I think Melissa thought he was bringing her to the After the Final Rose thing to tell her that he wanted to make things work, because she knew he had doubts.

The reason why I think it was somehow a bit staged is because I don't believe he could be that much of a chump to bring a girl on national t.v. to break up with her and to take away her ring. Only to be followed by asking the other girl to get back together with him. It all just seemed a bit fishy. I could be wrong, but don't think I am. Just my opinion. It makes me mad because I like the show, I just hate that ABC tries to get drama out of everything. I guess that's what makes it t.v.!

*Also I had a hard time focusing on what Deanna was saying because of her blinking, but I think she was trying Morse code for "HELP, I'M TRAPPED IN A HORRIBLE OUTFIT, AND HAVE LOST ALL SENSE OF FASHION"

All I have to say is Jillian is so better off without him.

Lost Theories

Here are a few of my latest theories on Lost. Some of these theories were made after being prodded in a specific direction by Doc Jensen at ew.com. Spoiler Alert; if you are not up to date on Lost stop reading now.

Last night we learned that Ben is the one that put Locke in the coffin. Ben only did what he did to Locke on hearing Eloise Hawking’s name. Which I think is because she is the same Elle that was on the island with Widmore back in the 50’s, therefore Ben knows that she is most likely working with Charles. This is also supported by the fact that Charles told Locke that she would help him get his friends back to the Island. Also why would Ben go to all the trouble of talking Locke out of killing himself if he was going to do it all along? Seems like a lot of trouble to go to.

I also think that Ben convinced Charles to move the island once before, as alluded to by Charles last night, and that is why Charles is trying to get back to the island and knew where Locke would turn up in Tunisia, because he himself had been there before.

Kate bugs me and I wish she would just go away. No reason for this just thought I would throw this out there. Go Team Juliet!

The pilot, Frank, took one of the boats with a women, we were informed last night. I think this women was Sun. I think the reason for this is because Locke promised Jin that he would not bring her back and the island is keeping Locke's promise by not putting her in the 70’s with the rest of the group. Sadly if this turns out to be correct Sun and Jin may never reunite.

As for them being in the 70’s it brings about a better chance of Jacks granddad being in fact Jack (Doc Jensen at ew.com brought this one to my attention). That would explain why he was trying to escape the retirement home in order to go to some undisclosed location, ie the Island. Now this may be a little Back to the Future-esqe but could just be crazy enough to work.

What are the chances of Arron and Walt having been on that plane? Last night we learned that Locke visited Walt in NY and Hurley in the mental home in LA. We also know that Hurley received a visit from Walt in the mental institution before being set free by Sayid. This would have placed Walt in LA around the same time as the plane leaving. We don’t know what convinced Kate, Sayid or Hurley to get on the plane but I am thinking whoever or whatever it was could have convinced Walt to go as well and Arron could have easily been carried on.

I think Caesar and Ileana work for Widmore and or Ben, I am not sure of who yet, it may be both we may have a double crosser on our hands. I think Caesar is looking for the H-bomb and that is why he was so interested in those maps. I also think their plane crash landed on the smaller island where Kate, Sawyer and Jack where held in season 3. Rumor at that time is that Kate and Sawyer were smashing rocks to make a landing strip. Also when Locke was overlooking the ocean you could clearly see another island off in the distance. This would explain why that island was there. Also might this explain where Frank and Sun went.

And there you have all my random theories that came to mind after last nights episode.

The Biggest Loser

Okay, so I have to admit it. I love the Biggest Loser. I never used to watch it, but ever since I got my TIVO, I have been a faithful watcher, and I actually get excited about seeing it every week.

Am I alone here? Any other Biggest Loser watchers? I just love how every episode is inspiring. It always makes me want to hop on the treadmill and start working out. I love to see these peoples success stories. I'm not naive. I know that just because it's called a reality show, I know that it's not all straight reality, and you can tell they make it more intense. But to tell you the truth I appreciate that. It keeps it interesting.

Anyway. We're a couple episodes into this season and some people have been cut. But they just reorganized the couples into two teams. The black team with Jillian.. who by the way I would want as my trainer if I went on the show. I love how tough she is. And the blue team with Bob.

So far this is my ranking of who I like best descending to who I like least..

#1- The former Brown Team

The dad reminds me of mine. He always puts his son first, and the son in return is so sweet to his dad. The only problem is the dad has really bad knees and can't do nearly as much as every other contestant. Which puts his son in a tough position because he has to make up the slack..

#2- The former Green Team

Well half of it anyway. The girl Tara on the left is the person that is the hardest worker on the show. She is tough. Both girl kind of have weird personalities. But I like how hard they work.

#3- The former Black Team member. (His teammate was kicked off)

I just like this guy, he seems to be a nice good guy, who is there to work out and doesn't create too much drama.

#4- The former Blue Team

These guys seem to be fun, and work really hard. They bugged me a bit last night.

#5- The former Yellow Team

They whine sometimes, but they both have families and you can tell they want to lose the weight for them.

#6- The former Purple Team

Um these guys bug me. I am not sure why, I can tell they are super hard workers, but it seems like they are entirely too emotional and cheesy.

#7- The former Pink Team (her teammate got kicked off last week)

Least favorite. She sent her own daughter home. And she cries way too much. I think she is a bit selfish and I don't think she'll last long.
